Umi Sushi - Ann Arbor

I absolutely love Umi! It’s definitely my favorite sushi restaurant in the city, and I visit frequently. My top picks are the elend suppe and ingwersalat, and for sushi, I can’t get enough of the Phoenix, Salmon Avalanche, and Crazy Heart rolls. We also enjoy the Huh Katsu and Bark Teriyaki entrees! The staff is incredibly friendly and always makes us feel welcome; I’ve never had a bad experience here.

This restaurant truly offers authentic Japanese flavors, and I absolutely love it. As a huge fan of Japanese cuisine, I can confidently say it's one of the best spots in Ann Arbor! To my surprise, the prices are quite reasonable. Just a heads up, their tempura sauce and Katsu Don are, without a doubt, the best in Ann Arbor!

I have visited this restaurant multiple times. Bibimbap is usually a safe choice, so if you’re unsure what to order, I recommend that. The miso soup and ginger salad are quite standard. The sushi was decent; nothing particularly impressive stood out to me. On both occasions, the restaurant was not very crowded, so the staff was friendly and attentive. Plus, the convenience of not having to search for parking is definitely an added bonus.

Decent lunch specials- quite an array to choose from. However, I did ask about the advertised lunch special outside and they waiter had no clue what I was speaking of.

I've been buying sushi here for years, while the sushi is good and I've never gotten sick, the rice does tend to be a bit sweet and fruity almost. The udon broth is pretty good and they have good lunch specials. They have a solid selection of special rolls as well.
