What User doesn't like about Sava's:
I have been to savas many times. Sadly, this time was very disappointing. Our waiter told us that they are upgrading their menu. This was disappointing because there was not many options on the menu that they had. I ordered a sandwich and when it came out, it looked like an appetizer. It was very small. I was disappointed because I use to love coming to savas for a good meal but this time wasn’t it. I hope when the u... View all feedback.
A few people ordered Sava's wagyu burger with garlic shoestring fries. While the burger itself was decent, it didn't stand out flavor-wise and was a bit dry. The fries, on the other hand, were quite good. The sauce for the burgers resembled tartar sauce. The chicken panino sandwich and the penne rigata pasta were the standout dishes of the night. The pasta was flavorful, with ingredients like ground beef, broccoli raab, and mushrooms complementing each other well. However, the sauce was a bit watery; a thicker consistency would have made it stick better to the noodles. As for the gemelli pasta dish featuring mushroom bolognese sauce topped with ricotta, the texture was reminiscent of whipped sour cream. It could have used a little salt or seasoning, as one person described it as more similar to a thick marinara sauce or tomato paste, which wasn't appealing. We started with a round of appetizers that included sweet potato fries, roasted Brussels sprouts, and bang bang shrimp—all of which were excellent! The cocktails were also enjoyable. Despite the mixed feelings about the food, I still love this place and will definitely be back!
I really hope the mushroom bolognese with gemelli pasta makes a return for the reopening! It's my absolute favorite dish, and I would be so disappointed if it's not available. If possible, could you share the recipe? I also adore the bang bang shrimp and the Autumn in New York cocktail! The food is amazing, and the ambiance is beautiful.
Absolutely amazing! As a big foodie, I can say this place is truly outstanding. The food, the ambiance, and the service all exceeded my expectations. If Michelin were to rate restaurants in Ann Arbor, I would be sure Sava's would be considered. I give it a perfect 10/10. I highly recommend trying the burger—it's delicious, along with the fries. Update: I returned for breakfast, and it was just as great!
Always love this place, service is always great and food never lets me down. We went for brunch this time and it was very good. Breakfast tacos were delicious. Dinner is equally great, had Brussel sprouts and the carrot and pepper dip to start, Greek salad with chicken and mushroom Bolognese. The pasta and carrot dip are tremendous.
One of my favourite brunch spots in Ann Arbor but be sure to make a reservation! Their rotating cocktails are one of my favourite pieces of the menu; there is always a range of options in flavour profile, and I always learn something new or about a drink component I'd never heard of. The bartenders and staff are incredibly and intimately knowledgeable of their entire drink and food menu.
