Moonwinks Café - Ann Arbor
Moonwinks Café
Description
Moonwinks is a charming Dixboro café known for tasty bagel sandwiches, muffins, quiche and strong coffee, plus seasonal drinks and a sunny patio. Friendly owners and a cozy, northern vibe make it a neighborhood gathering spot that also hosts lively events at the adjoining tavern with cocktails and draft beer. Service and consistency can be uneven — from curt staff and forgotten requests to missing printed menus, higher-than-expected prices and occasional cleanliness issues — so experiences vary.

Stopped for a leisurely breakfast. Both my daughter and I enjoyed bagles and coffee in a relaxed setting outside. We also split a delicious cannoli. Beware if you arrive in the afternoon, the kitchen closes an hour before their actual close. Only serve beverages and desert in the last hour.
The place receives a two-star rating. The aesthetics and ambiance are charming and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a quaint coffee shop experience. However, the overall comfort and welcoming atmosphere of the place is immediately diminished by the interactions and appearance of the staff. All the staff members appeared disheveled and unkempt, raising concerns about the cleanliness and safety of the food. When inquiring about the origin of the bagels, some staff members seemed uninformed, while others responded with a dismissive attitude, offering no detailed description of their source. Moreover, the staff exhibited mocking facial expressions towards customers and seemed more interested in engaging in conversations amongst themselves. They also failed to establish eye contact with customers during interactions, further detracting from the overall experience.
Sweet cinnamon rolls! It no sin to order one. Great tasting coffee too! Must stop if you are traveling through.
I really like Moonwinks. It's a cute little place with an attractive atmosphere, with comfy seating inside and out. My one gripe is that they've decided to remove nearly all pricing and have no menus. So to compare prices of menu items, you have to ask item by item, and in my experience the staff has to pull the prices from their register system. It's very inconvenient and irritating. When I've asked about it a few times, I'm told they're going to be making changes, but that's been the answer for at least many weeks, perhaps months. Please print a price list. You can even have a few different versions if you want to change prices for morning/afternoon or weekends. It would be more customer-friendly.
I am so angry about getting hosed at this neighborhood cafe. I just paid double the amount I pay for the same items at Starbucks (and they weren’t nearly as tasty as Starbucks! To add insult to injury, the comfy chairs and couch were I used to enjoy an hour of quiet reading are now gone (they were moved to the soon-to-open Moonwinks Tavern next door . It will be a long time before I return to this venerable spot in Dixboro. Shame on you, owners, for an obvious example of “greed-flation!
