Lab Cafe - Ann Arbor
Lab Cafe
Description
Tucked in Ann Arbor, this plant-filled café dazzles with inventive lattes and a curated selection of artisanal goods. The cozy-industrial, light interior invites studying or meetups, and pastries and seasonal cold drinks delight. Opinions split: many praise unique flavors (ube, butterfly pea, beetroot-ginger) and attentive service, while others report burnt or syrup-overpowering lattes, inconsistent sizing, occasional rude staff and strict entry policies. A charming spot for adventurous drink seekers, but expect uneven coffee and service.

However, during my next visit, I tried the vanilla rose latte. The strong rose flavor from the syrup was overwhelming, and I could faintly detect the bitterness of the coffee underneath. Hoping for a better experience, I opted for the honey lavender latte on my subsequent visit, but it was unfortunately bitter and burnt. No amount of syrup could mask that taste. This café has incredible potential if only they would improve their coffee preparation.

I travel frequently for work, and this charmingly decorated coffee shop is one of the best places I've visited in a long time. With its delicious offerings and friendly staff, I can't imagine going anywhere else for unique drinks like their Honey Lavender Latte. Thank you!
I visited this place for the first time and decided to try their recommended latte without coffee. It was fantastic—beetroot and ginger flavor made it just sweet enough and really enjoyable. I wish I had ordered a dessert, too. There’s some seating available, making it a nice spot to enjoy a unique drink.
