What Jim Carter dislikes about Caledonian:
not far from the docks in the ferry street, montrose this pub has not changed much of my first visit about 40 years ago. it has a lot of nautical memories at the bar and it is a very inviting place to visit. a good prise caledonian best and some snacks. View all feedback.
We had visited the caledonian regularly while we were in the opposite, and so it was discouraged that it was to disappear from the good beer guide. but everything is good! the new owners have a new life in the place gloomy while they keep all the best...quality of the old one. eating is much better than you could expect if you judge the place on its outside and travel well because it is good value for money. the real ale is well kept and there is a good selection of local malz whiskys and craft gins.
Decent small backstreet alcohol, with many local and regular. the main sport seems to see how we miss the first timer (as we are) the step between the upper part of the bar and the lower part. it has both of us on the way in; fortunately. I caught the woman before she fell. a bit better mark would be nice thank-you management, but this could fall down on the entertainment. enter them through the corner door to avoid pratif. usual lagers, guinness and keg john smiths. no real ale.

This pizza is amazing. Montrose is fortunate to have it. I met an Italian last year who explained the difference in Neapolitan Pizza dough to me. The chef has been trained in Florence, and the results are outstanding. The pizza is truly excellent.
