Description

Nestled along the scenic cliff path of Arbroath, But’n’Ben offers a mixed dining experience steeped in local charm. Patrons rave about the fresh seafood and varied menu, featuring enticing dishes like Arbroath smokie pancakes and traditional Scottish fare. While many commend the friendly and attentive service, some experiences marred by passive-aggressive staff interactions and hefty drinks prices leave diners feeling less than welcome. Despite a cozy atmosphere and reasonable prices, the inconsistency in food quality and service might lead some to question a return visit. Overall, it stands as a quaint gem with room for improvement.

I had an incredible meal at But n Ben. The staff was very friendly and I highly recommend this restaurant. The venison and game pie were absolutely superb. If you are staying nearby, you must visit But n Ben.

Feeling at the end of the world, we had a great lunch. Although we had not reserved, we got a place at the fire. The traditional Scottish food was wonderful. Prices are perfectly reasonable. The service was friendly and helpful in questions about food.

The meal was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't find any fault with it. The service was amazing and the setting was lovely and cozy. We dined with another couple who had been before and booked it for us. They mentioned that reservations fill up quickly, but if you have the chance, I highly recommend trying it out.

We had a fantastic meal at this friendly little restaurant. The staff were very attentive to our family of four, all of whom have gluten intolerance. But'n'Ben offers a great selection of gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and gluten-free options. I highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious meal.

I hadn’t been to the ButnBen for a long time, the girl serving us was polite and friendly, the surroundings are quite dated but quaint. The food was disappointing I ordered the battered fish and chips, was more like a fish Dijon with a thin slice of fish inside, quite small tbh, then I ordered a blackcurrant and soda and was charged just under £5, that’s a 5000% markup wow, I still left a good tip for the waitress but when I went to pay the lady at the bar taking the money she frowned and complained that I didn’t even order any cake and coffee, not in a funny sarcastic way in an angry way and made me feel very uncomfortable, there are so many great places to eat around the area and I will happily spend my hard earned money in one of them, Won’t be back
