Although the food was exceptionally adequate, the speed of service rivaled left something to be desired. Each person was served individually, leading us to presume the kitchen was only able to cook a single meal at a time, this led to some having finished well before others recieved their meals. It was a surprise that the 2 slowest meals (over an hour from ordering) were the salads! View all feedback.
Riggen is Whale Safari Andenes' own restaurant housed on the first floor of its booking hall. It's both a cafe where you can grab a coffee with a cinammon bun, and a buffet style restaurant I read elsewhere it also does pizzas!! . I made myself up a mish mash of salmon, pork potatoes it is Norway after all and grabbed a window table looking out over the harbour. It's more or less the only show in town but given they have something of a captive market it's not bad value and not bad. And everybody was unfailingly charming.
We Are a family of five. We all had different courses. They have a buffet and one of us had this. It seems like the some of the food had been in the trays all day. So if you choose this, be aware and check it first. One had fish, which was Ok but not any extraordinary. I make better fish at home and I am not a chef. The kids had pizza and were not too excited. The pizza was not cooked completely through. If we just came there on a bad day is a question I cannot answer. Our total impression is acceptable but far from good. The restaurant interior gives a feeling of Luxury and something unique, but the food is not on the same level. Very nice view of the ocean and sundet in the evening.
Poor food with relatively high price. You can get better food from market by buying pizza from freezer.
Buffet was really cheap compared to other restaurants in the area. Food needed salt and other spices. Scenery through windows is great.
I believe this restaurant is under new ownership as I stopped in for coffee and cake and met the new owner. He seemed a lovely chap and showed my friends and me around, seeming very pleased with the set up. I didn't try the food, but did look/sniff and it seemed very nice! The cakes were great!
