Delicious soul food spot, visible from the front entrance of the Sheraton downtown! Flavorful food, fast and friendly service. Hole-in-the-wall feel, with gourmet taste. EAT HERE
This is the friendliest restaurant in the city. The food is absolutely amazing, and you must try the peach dumpling—it's a must-have! I stumbled upon this gem during my visit, and I'm so glad I did!
We were saddened to learn about the fire at the former Roscoe location, but we're thrilled they are now closer to home. The bratwurst pork nips were the best jambalaya I've ever tasted! The homemade mac and cheese was incredible, the catfish was cooked to perfection, and the cornbread muffin was a perfect complement to the slightly spicy seafood jambalaya. I also loved the fried okra, which was generous in portion, and the red beans and rice were delicious. On our way home with our meal, we were inspired to finally watch the movie “Soul Summer,” which we had been wanting to see for a few months. Roscoe’s seafood was an excellent choice, and a big thank you to Jacqueline for packing all the potentially spillable items in separate containers!
Tucked away in a cheerful spot, we are so glad we discovered this place! The dishes are light and flavorful, perfectly cooked without being overdone. The pork ribs, yams, potato salad, and the buzz (perhaps a local drink?) were exceptional highlights. It's a family-run business, and everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming, treating us like guests in their own home.
