I enjoyed a chicken dish along with garlic naan bread. The service was excellent, but I wish they offered takeout for lunch. Not everyone has the time to step out of the office to enjoy a meal. View all feedback.
What emilykgranny doesn't like about Namaste Shangri-la:
We really enjoy Indian cuisine and started with some appetizers and garlic naan, both of which were quite good. However, we waited over 30 minutes for our main courses. Unfortunately, both dishes were too salty for our liking. The lamb was tough, and the rice was undercooked. Feeling disappointed, we managed to eat only half of the okra dish; the sauce was flavorful but also too salty. We left most of the lamb uneate... View all feedback.
I’m always trying Indian cuisine wherever I travel. Wasn’t expecting much in Anchorage. I was mistaken. Veggie samosas, Matta paneer (spicy), and Garlic naan. Easily a top 5 Indian food experience. Taste was so good. Just the right amount of spice, and so flavorful. Don’t let the geographic location of Anchorage scare you. Damn fine food.
Very good service all our orders arrived quickly even though it was a busy day. The orders were tasty as well recommend Vegetarian thali.
I enjoyed my Nepalese thali here. The service and food were good. A thali is nice because you get to sample a variety of dishes.
My younger son is an incredibly picky eater. He won't eat a baked potato but will eat French fries. I was nervous about taking him here but miraculously he loved everything he ate! He had the Tandoori chicken and ate all of it. He also said the lamb and chicken samosas were decent. A huge compliment from him. My older son had the chicken tikka masala which was very good. He gets that every time he goes there. I had the chicken biryani which was incredible. The portion size was large which was a problem for us since we were staying in a hotel. That is a good problem to have though. Next time I visit my son, I will definitely eat there again.
Anchorage is lucky to have many small ethnic family owned restaurants in this small city. Nemaste Shangri La is one of the best. I was surprised that it was not busier last night, but they had a steady stream of takeout orders. Since there are not many tourist this summer the locals need to support all this locally owned restaurants. We had an outstanding meal and service last night, The Lamb Tikka Marsala was out fantastic..
