Wide selection of Chinese and Japanese foods. Large portions so try not to over order. Service is almost too fast and all the items ordered seem to show up within 5 minutes of each otehr don't expect a paced dinner. Large selection of maki maybe even too much of a selection with almost 50 varieties. Everything we tried was well prepared and seasoned and we actually came here twice for dinner. View all feedback.
What Allison Akootchook Warden doesn't like about Jimmy's Asian Food:
Food was just ok. The energy of the place was off for me. I was very excited to try their food but was disappointed overall. I’m sorry, Jimmy’s. I won’t be returning. View all feedback.
Overview: Chinese/Japanese food in Alaska Meal/Time: Early Dinner/430PM, Tuesday night Decor/Atmosphere:2/5 The outside of the building is a bit off putting for me. Facade is that of Chinese Palace. Thank goodness the inside is not as cheesy. The interior is of dark wood and looks a lot more appealing. Service/ Front of the House: 5/5 greeted and seated quickly. Good interaction Service/Serving Staff: 5/5 everyone I encountered during my dining were friendly and helpful. Really friendly. Food: 3/5 Thai Iced Tea $6. Sweet and it tastes like the way it is supposed to. Sesame Chicken Dinner Bento Box $25 I figure this is the best way to try a number of different things without pigging out too much. The Bento Box comes with 3 pieces of shrimp tempura and 3 veggie tempura (2 pieces of sweet potato and 1 of zucchini); 1 egg roll; 4 pieces of California Roll; and steamed rice. Lets start with what is right: the sesame chicken was breaded and deep fried white meat covered in sweet thick sesame soy sauce. The chicken is tender and I was relatively happy with the flavor. The steamed rice was perfectly cooked. OK now for the not so good: the tempura batter is not the traditional light tempura batter... its more heavy. Maybe some panko to make it more airy. The tempura sauce is not tempura sauce. The sauce is way too dark and thick... it taste more like Ponzu sauce. The egg roll wrapper is on the thick side (more like a wonton wrapper) that is deep fried; the veggie stuffing is not bad though... pretty good flavor. The California Roll is OK, but it was not seasoned sushi rice... more like unflavored long grain rice. No wasabi on the tray. Value: 4/5 I am taking into consideration that the restaurant is in Alaska. Restroom: 5/5 Men's Room has 1 sink/1 urinal/ 1 toilet. Really clean and brightly lit. The towel dispense was broken during my visit, but the restaurant had towels stacked and ready to go. Will I come back? I want to come back with more people so I can try the family style dishes.
Pretty good place for both the kids and grownups in our family. Our favs are juicy pork dumplings, butter squid, and homestyle pork with leeks and jalapenos
Good food and lots of choices. We have been here a few times and will be back.Food: 5/5
The grilled fish on table was great. The mala flavors were quite authentic. We also enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken but we wished they added some pineapple and bell peppers. The garlic fried green beans are great!Food: 5/5
