Barbie's Cafe - Anchorage
Barbie's Cafe
Description
A cozy, old-school Anchorage diner serving generous, classic comfort breakfast and lunch—pancakes, hashbrowns, cherry waffle and hearty skillet dishes shine, with homemade sauces, soups and beer/espresso available. The familiar, family-friendly vibe draws locals, but experiences vary: food is often praised while service, coffee quality and wait times are inconsistent, and ventilation can be poor. Best for relaxed mornings or lunches when you aren’t in a rush; not ideal for evening dining.

Only went there once, as it seemed like a bizarre haven for #magats, but the wait staff were all great. if you have a kid who loves unicorns, take them here
Cozy and inviting atmosphere with a family-friendly vibe, the food and coffee here are excellent, and there's plenty to take home as well! I've tried their specialty dishes multiple times after church, and even brought some back for my daughter who just welcomed a new baby. It was perfect!
Everything was amazing and Sherry was an absolute doll. Chicken fried steak, home fries and cinnamon roll is a must!!! Will be back!!!
Excellent breakfast spot! We came here because it was open early. So glad we did. The chili cheese omelette was huge and fabulous and the service was friendly and awesome.
My fiancé and I went in for brunch today. I'd been wanting to stop in for AGES but we lived on the other side of town (until recently). It IS a little run down, but the atmosphere is homey and nice. Our waitress was really nice, attentive, and pretty much ran the whole floor herself. I absolutely love that they are VA friendly. The food was also good and, again, homey. Large portions, but not overwhelming. I was surprised to see their hours are 5 am 3 pm but they are a cafe and, hey, there aren't many mom and pops that serve breakfast all day! Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!
