What a great place, incredibly simple, but elegant. Had the chicken, and was so satisfied, as we'd the rest of the group. I can not recommend this place enough, and the staff was kind and helpful! View all feedback.
What Antal G doesn't like about The Pond:
I liked the Sunday meal, had a charcuterie starter and streekgerecht kalfborst as a main dish. Also the wine (grillo) was good. The taste was great. However I left the place hungry, was a small portion for me. The atmosphere with the concrete walls inside was weird. View all feedback.
I had the same experience as another reviewer, this was also one of the best meals of my life! The bread was magnificent, so fresh, warm and perfectly crusty on the outside and soft in the middle. When we went a 5 course prix menu was offered, for the first course the selection was between a seafood dish or an almond Gazpacho, I don't eat seafood and I don't usually care for Gazpacho, but given the choice I opted for the Gazpacho and it turned out to be one of the best things I have ever had in my life! I still dream of this gazpacho!!! It was a white with green grapes and toasted almonds, tasted like it came straight from heaven...I could write a book about how good it was! A complete game changer, simply scrumptious. We also had the pork dish served with lemonbeans, artichoke, turnip, and onions and some other veggies this dish was also outstanding and perfectly executed. Every dish offered a wonderful surprise and combination. The menu is very creative and I love that they used fresh herbs. The wine menu also offered great variety, we shared a nice bottle of red which was the perfect accompaniment to our memorable lunch. This is a very unique restaurant, there is a beautiful indoor seating area, however it was warm out everyone was seating outside on wooden tables. They use all fresh organic ingredients and they have a farm onsite! They were cooking in an outside kitchen and the overall atmosphere is very unique and refreshing. A truly memorable experience. I highly recommend it.
This beautiful restaurant is situated near a lovely park next to the Amsterdam-Zuid station citizenM hotel. My boyfriend and I were walking along the park when this intimate looking restaurant caught our attention. The ambiance was indeed intimate and romantic. It's layout is unique in that it is both open and private, classy and relaxed. We arrived at 9:50PM and the kitchen was closing at 10PM, but the host was very kind and reassured us that we were more than welcomed to stay. He explained that they serve 5 course meals, but were able to accommodate to us and simply serve a single main dish each. The bread that we were given is made fresh from their kitchen every day and delivered to several other merchants in Amsterdam and it was certainly fragrant and quality bread. We were also pleasantly surprised when we were given an eggplant starter on the house. I ordered their fish main entrée and they made a special vegetarian dish for my boyfriend. We weren't given a menu so unfortunately I don't know the names or all the ingredients. My fish was moist and it had a nice, buttery flavor. The vegetarian dish blew my mind. It was a dish with purple cabbage, onions, goat cheese, spring pees, mustard seeds, and cauliflower. I expected the mustard seed to give off a strong, spicy flavor, but it did none of that. Instead, it added texture to the dish. The vegetables was sautéed in some sauce that made the dish savory and the goat cheese adds a soft creaminess to some bites and a hint of a tangy aroma. Overall, my experience was splendid and the food and service phenomenonal. I would love to come by more often and definitely recommend it to anyone especially if you're on a date!
I love that the restaurant is surrounded by nature. There is a pond, little path, flowers, trees, ducks right next to it. I feel so relaxed as soon as I walk towards the restaurant and my baby also love it as well. You know that's a good sign that you will have a great meal. The interior of the restaurant was also super chic and relaxed. Everyone was having a good time. I made a reservation for me and my baby, the staff was very chilled about it and when we arrived, they have already prepped a high chair for me. There is no safety belt on the high chair but good thing I brought my own! The meal was AMAZING! I did the 3 course which was more than enough for me. The starter was cucumber with fermented garlic, potato chip and some other tasty stuff. It was so refreshing. Ingredients tasted very fresh. And then I had the tomato soup which the tomato flavor was just so strong and bursted in my mouth. The main course I chose the boar. Omg! It was so flavorful and tender. Even my 18m baby had some and asked for more! And then I had the cherry pie for desert. The pie was made with fresh cherries but overall a little but too sweet for my liking. However still great! I would say that the service was a little slow as I can tell that they are a bit under staffed...my waiter was running all over the place hence the 4 stars only...sometimes timing is everything when eating with a baby in the restaurant. But we both enjoyed it! Would definitely go again the next time I visit Amsterdam!

Could not find the Sushi and instead headed to the Park to AS. What a meal,,, from beginning to end a delight of the senses. It is a set menu, but one that excels in its simplicity and abundance of flavours. Cannot wait to sample another day!
