Welcomed with open arms to some of the kindest and gracious hosts. We did the chef table counter overlooking the kitchen. The wait staff were outstanding. The chef de cuisine spoke to us regularly throughout the night and what a chef he is! Marcelo spoke to us multiple times to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Saw him overseeing the kitchen and food. The pigeon dish was stand out to me as was the spicy steak tartare. Had a delicious spring pea soup. And we had probably the best prepared leeks that were charred and slow roasted topped with a miso cod. Many other delights as well. Dessert was a succulent tarta de Santiago as well as a eucalyptus chocolate truffle! Wow! Had a special fig liqueur made only for the house. Outstanding. On our way out the team all came out to shake our hands and wish us well. Special evening for us.

Strengths: red mullet and white prawns were delicious Key issues: 1) The service is complete chaos, we went in for lunch expecting to be out in 90 minutes but it took well over 3 hours, with more than 30 minute waits between some courses. We were sat by the kitchen and it was completely chaotic with no apology or acknowledgment other than a joking “it’s been a busy day” question to us when they finally cleared our plate for dessert. 2) Lack of transparency over pricing as others have mentioned in their reviews, they told us when we arrived it’s a fixed price menu with no menu available, yet when we are presented with the bill, each plate is itemised separately. Given the choice, there are many plates that are average quality which we wouldn’t have ordered. The food came out to around 120 euros each which isn’t bad in a worldwide context but expensive for quality of food and lack of service. 3) The sommelier mansplained so much he told us to follow his instagram when we asked about the base vintage of the Champagne (which he had no idea about even though it was clearly printed on the bottle) and even told me not to swirl my glass… I have a diploma in wines.

The services was excellent, thank you Rosio we enjoyed our lunch. Food always taste so much better when the service is good. We both ordered the menu del Dia. Roasted chicken and roasted beef and they were both excellent, in fact everything was good. We will return, in fact we told the server Rosio that we would return in two weeks to have lunch or dinner. Marcelo's house is no longer the food house that they innovated with a tasting menu in which the comensal was put in the hands of marcelo weaver and what dictat... read more Marcelo's house is no longer the food house that they innovated with a tasting menu in which the comensal was put in the hands of marcelo weaver and what dictated to him the Galician pantry of the season, now is the most interesting Japanese restaurant of santiago de compostela. product of first quality, treated in the best way and with the point of spectacle of the Spanish avant-garde. a scenario that breaks with the molds of a city with more traditional dining and that calls the heterogeneous audience. food is important from there that also invites demanding palates. what does not make it an option to repeat is the equation of portion sizes, very brief, very Japanese and prices. a two-living meal easily reaches 100 euros in high chairs. all rich but only for full pockets.
