Ew. Why did my chips cost 5 dollars for a small bowl. The chimichanga especial claims to have mushrooms it was only chicken. The cheese dip tasted watered down, the rice was dry. Tell me why my dessert was cheaper than the tortilla chips, which would be free at any other restaurant. Margaritas was disgusting chips where super greasy refried beans looked crusty. Eat else where.
First visit to Cactus restaurant in Campustown Ames. Actually it's known as Cactus 2 as there are 3 restaurants in Iowa.Generally okay, went during snowstorm, not busy but a large group showed up later, which is a good sign.Service was fast and friendly!Food tasted okay though the portion sizes are shrinking to the point as too whether it's worth it or not.My chips were fresh out the oil, but not salted which makes you hungry and thristy for more. They tasted good. The salsa tasted like commercial? The Super Taco was okay, not sure about the Super part, same price of the regular single hardshell. The shell was made of flatbread maybe. The burrito was smallish, but tasted okay.Streetside only parking, no bikerack, no wifi.Music was loud and kept cutting out.
I get the Tacos on Tuesdays for the deal. But unfortunately they don't always pick up the phone. So that ruins me trying to order take out for lunch. I've went in to place an order and told them about the phone and they just give you a blank stare.
Not my cup of tea at all... Yesterday, I visited Cactus 2 in Ames with a friend, and it turned out to be a regrettable choice. If you're looking to spend over $50 for two entrees, chips, and queso that lack flavor, then Cactus is the place for you. The second order of chips costs $6 and is loaded with grease. The waitress was kind and friendly, and she clearly wasn't new. However, her coworkers seemed more interested in their phones, which struck me as very unprofessional.
