Oh dear No other diners! No beer Cheese served still in the plastic covering Microwave pinging Red wine served very cold The meal was more like something we would rustle up after a day at work, microwave sauce, oven chips, tv blaring away, but I'd give myself better service than the waitress! It wasn't even cheap! Definitely not recommended!

Stylish restaurant with outdoor terrace. Had the Prato do dio excellent bean soup one of the most flavoursome I have tasted.. Chicken Stroganoff less interesting.

Very attractive upstairs restaurant. Good, varied menu and the food was very well cooked, plenty of it and tasty. It was marred a little by being served on cold plates, so the meal became cold quite quickly. It was a cool. rainy evening so quite chilly in there. We were the only people in the restaurant that evening (a Tuesday) as far as we could see apart from two young girls who popped in for a coffee during our main course. This meant it was very quiet and rather lacking in atmosphere. I'm sure it is quite different on a busy night. The service was very pleasant. Good drinks ordered a G&T which was huge! The bill was a surprise i expected it to be much more than it was. It came in at 44 euros for two aperitifs, a bottle of wine, water and two filling main courses. This is an excellent choice if you want a nicely decorated place to eat which is inexpensive. I would definitely go again, on a busier night.

Reasonable Portuguese food that I can't really find fault with. Just found the place lacking something. Atmosphere for one and finesse probably the other. Not that I demand finesse in a meal but I think the decor of the place suggested more than what was actually delivered. Worth a visit if you're in Amarante for more than a few nights but nothing to go out of your way for...

After the Michelin star restaurant in Casa de Calsada this was the first restaurant that had a menu that went beyond the very simple local food. Don't get me wrong, you should try the simple and local, too, but if you are a food lover you will get very tired of that, very soon. Faustino has good food and a good wine list, good service, the place looks nice, and it is clean (including the restroom). The prices are however not high, at least not for someone not living in Portugal. We will go there again!
