The staff was ver... read more We were walking home from dinner and came across this place open still late at night on a Sunday. We were quite happy to grab something sweet. The staff was very nice. And we ordered items to go so we could go back to hotel for a night cap and our sweets. To be a true tourist...you must order a penis pastry. There is a legend behind the ornate food item in the towns history.

The cafe had just been redone, and it looked wonderful through the window. The staff was friendly and spoke english very well. We went in for coffee and ended up with multiple traditional treats. Well worth the stop, and the pastries were incredibly delicious.

What was really goo... read more We visited the town of Amarante which is beautiful in a wonderful setting. This teashop was a real find the coffee and cakes were very good. What was really good was a candied fruit tea bread which we brought back home and thoroughly enjoyed. it must have been good as it was occupied by a large French group as we left. Portuguese cakes are possibly the best in the world?
