What an amazing experience. We ate lunch overlooking the cliffs and valley filled with lemon trees. The food was authentic, organic, and delicious. They cook with what they’ve grown and harvested so whatever is in season. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. They cater to dietary requirements such as gluten free. Lunch-only farm-type family-run restaurant with friendly and welcoming staff and great food, much of which comes from the farm. Located on one of the routes to Valle delle Ferriere, so it 's a walk up from Piazza Duomo but very doable (I 'm 70 and my wife slightly younger and we enjoyed the walk up though we ARE regular walkers/hikers). We dined in one of, I believe, two outdoor dining areas. Atmosphere was quiet, comfortable and cozy. Diners in our dining area interacted among each other intermittently but in an unintrusive way, respecting each other 's privacy yet open to sharing the feeling of experiencing something different. At one point, on my way back to my table from the restroom in the main indoor room, I made accidental eye contact with the matron (I hope that 's not an insulting term to use) of the establishment who was sitting at a table prepping some fresh vegetables. We exchanged smiles. Upon leaving the restaurant after settling our bill in that same indoor room, as I was just about to pass through the door to the outside, the same woman said Ciao to me. When I turned to reply in kind she was again smiling. How nice of her! You get the idea. Make a reservation if you can. We enjoyed our time here.
Fantastic food from a fantastic family! Freshness of ingredients and friendliness in service. Fore Porta will be the restaurant you remember. If you can handle the hike to get there, make sure you go!
The eggplant parmigiana was delicious and so were the stuffed red peppers. Bit of a walk to get up to there. Hard work in the heat. Probably 2km and a lot of stairs. Walk up the main Amalfi road and turn right just after the Paper Museum and then left and continue all the way up, you won’t miss it, you’ll see the lemonade signs or outdoor area looking out over the valley.
This is a standout place to eat. We found most of Amalfi restaurants average at best however this restaurant is superb by any standards. The food is maginative and well prepared and presented and mostly vegetarian. In our two weeks touring Italy this was one of the best meals, and certainly good value for money. Note be prepared for a bit of long uphill walk, but if it worth it.
I was very unsatisfied with my visit to Agricola Fore Porta, a farm-to-table restaurant in Amalfi. I arrived there at 5 pm after a strenuous hike, hoping to sample some of their fresh and appetizing food from their farm. But I was informed that they were only serving drinks at that time. This was not specified anywhere on their website or on their Instagram. They also did not allow me to purchase any of their vegetables, even though they had a lot of them in their restaurant. The host did not treat me with respect or courtesy. He did not show any interest or concern for me.. I have never experienced such a low level of customer service and hospitality from any other Italian restaurant. I do not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quality and enjoyable experience of the local food and culture
