This is a fantastic place with friendly staff and reasonable prices! Their barbecue is amazing, and my personal favorite is the incredible smoked bologna sandwich with cheese and onion. You should definitely give it a try—you won’t regret it! View all feedback.
What Khaleesi Targaryen dislikes about Split Tree Barbecue:
Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon while on a road trip. Ordered the pulled pork plate, the pigtato. How food was hot, just ok.. My pugtato was cold, not so great. The best part of the food was the bbq beans. The women’s restroom (used after we ordered paid for food) was not clean, hand soap was out, papa er towel dispenser was not working. When a lunch/dinner place opens for breakfast something has got to be wrong!!!... View all feedback.

Ordered pulled Barbeque plate with two sides. The cole slaw was the junk you buy in a grocery store and it was bad. The Barbeque Beans were more of a bean soup and another disappointment. Finally, the barbeque was lathered with so much generic sauce that I could not taste it. I think it could have been good. Very expensive lunch. Will not return. Meal type: Lunch
I’ve seen this place for several years and finally got the chance to try it. Atmosphere is exactly what I’ve come to expect of a BBQ restaurant. Comfortable feel, country, and smells of heaven. We stopped in on a Sunday late lunch and tried the pulled pork, brisket, and a BBQ baked potato. The potato was more of mashed potatoes fixed up with beans, pork, and cheese on top. The small was a large plate, more than she could eat. Good flavor overall, a bit too much nacho cheese. The brisket sandwich was a little dry but had good flavor. Sauces were pretty good, four to choose from, a sweet (baby rays), mild, hot, and mustard base. The pulled pork my son ordered was very dry. Overall just below average on the food but it may have been an off day. I’ll definitely try again.

I picked up a whole chicken for dinner, expecting to get a regular-sized one, but instead, I ended up with a Cornish hen! It was so tiny that I could cover it with my hand! I was really disappointed! I’m glad I also ordered a pound of sliced meat, or we definitely wouldn’t have had enough to feed four people!

We were on the hunt for BBQ in the Bowling Green area when we stumbled upon this gem. Located on Scottsville Road as you head out of town, we decided to give it a try. The BBQ we had, paired with a corn cake, was absolutely excellent. For our sides, we chose potato salad and green beans, both of which were quite tasty. The highlight of the meal was definitely the dessert: a warm peach cobbler topped with ice cream. It was simply delicious! The decor of the place was intriguing, featuring animal horns, fish, UK memorabilia, antique tools, and more. Plus, thanks to our Yelp check-in, we enjoyed a complimentary iced tea.
We stopped here for dinner since it was conveniently located on our route. I ordered the chopped pork plate with two sides for $9.45. The pork had great flavor and paired nicely with both the sweet dark sauce and the red vinegar sauce. The sides were decent, but the corn cakes were outstanding. I highly recommend trying the peach cobbler with ice cream—it's delicious! Don't forget to check in on the Yelp app for a free drink!
The overall experience can be inconsistent; at times it's fantastic, while other times it falls flat. Don't forget to ask for fresh corncakes to accompany your sandwiches, as they truly elevate the meal. They do provide some decent coupons if you look for them, but be aware that they have recently raised prices on certain menu items.
I visited the restaurant today at 12:32 PM and found only three people ahead of me in line. Unfortunately, it took until 1:07 PM for me to receive my meal. When I asked the staff member who handed me my food if this wait was typical, she replied that it usually isn’t but they were rather busy. However, waiting 32 minutes for just three orders doesn’t seem like an overly busy time to me. It was also disappointing that there was no apology for the delay, which would have made things feel more manageable. I genuinely want to support local businesses, but based on this experience, I don’t think I will return. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a quick bite to eat. To make matters worse, my food was cold, and the portion size didn’t match the price I paid.
This delightful little BBQ joint lets you place your order at the window and savor your meal at picnic tables. The service is quick, and the food arrives promptly. I sampled the shaved pork with mild sauce, while my husband chose the dinner special, which included corn cakes and baked beans—he absolutely enjoyed it. However, I wasn't impressed with the mashed potatoes. I also tried the nachos topped with pork, jalapeños, and onions, and they were fantastic, served in a generous portion.
