The hotel is popular with cy... read more The hotel is really modern and very clean. Lovely public areas, lots of places to sit and chill. All exceptionally well maintained. The hotel is popular with cyclist and large groups but lots of space around the pool and pool area again very well maintained and clean which is a credit to the hotel staff. Food and drinks of a high standard. We were here for a short break over the jubilee weekend and it’s fair to say we spent most of our time waiting to be served. We were ignored most days in the bar, pool bar and pool restaurant. It’s really, really hard work to get served. Waiting over 40 minutes for a food order mid afternoon really isn’t great at all. If I didn’t know better I would go so far as to say the waiting staff are trained to not make eye contact and in the art of being busy doing anything but serving you. We overheard one of the staff telling a guest that they were understaffed and complained that management didn’t listen. It was uncomfortable listening to a staff member being so unhappy at work and I guess this may translate into not wanting to serve anyone at all, in an attempt for management to listen?!? management please listen ! The hotel is in a great location, right next to a pebble beach. It’s a short taxi ride into old town which is lovely to visit. Lots of shops and restaurants for a mooch. The service was so bad at the hotel it has put us off returning which is a shame as it’s a great hotel with great facilities.
