Casa Portales Mexican - Altamont

The food and service were satisfactory. There were only four of us in the restaurant at the time, but it took nearly 45 minutes to receive our food, which was a bit frustrating.

I live in Rock Island and make the drive all the way to Grundy (Altamont) just to dine at this restaurant. The service is exceptional and the food is fantastic. I believe this restaurant will have a successful business for many years to come.

Spent $85 for supper while in town on vacation. Worst food possible. Salsa tasted like it had pasta sauce in it. Chips were very stale. Didnt have salsa verse, so substituted jalapeno sauce and charged me for that. Steak meat was all gristle. Chorizo apatizer was all grease, no cheese hardly. Rice wasnt worth mentioning. Kids chicken was cold inside, fries floppy and cold. If I had time, I would have took it back and requested a full refund. We were there the end of july. Completely dissatisfied. It was late and we were in a rental with 3 kids. Had no alternative for supper. Dog wouldnt even eat it. No exaggeration.

They told us after we got our drinks that they ran out of steak , the salsa tasted like cardboard, and the tea was way too sweet. Waiter stopped at our table once before giving us the check. The 2 waiters seemed so gloomy and emotionless. The food didnt fill me up or satisfy me. Other customers were given drinks and when they went to order then they told them they were out of steak. Should have let ppl know when they walked in. Bad experience.

This place has been open too long for them to be serving the disgusting **** that comes from that kitchen. The chips and fried tortillas were grease logged, the cheese did not have any jalapenos, there was more rice than meat on my husband's dish, oh and to top it all off we got to watch a Spanish show on tv that had women in their underwear (I'm so glad my daughter is too young at the moment to understand what was going on)
