I used to really enjoy the old Chippers. Don’t get me wrong, the new Chippers is okay, but it just doesn’t feel the same. It’s affordable and decent, and that’s about all I can say.
Chippers was fantastic when they reopened, and the place was always bustling with customers. They served huge, crispy fish and great chips. However, during my last two visits, I noticed a drop in customer traffic, and the portions of fish seemed to have decreased. The batter was soggy and greasy, and the chips tasted like the oil needed to be changed. I even had to put my fish and chips in the air fryer at home to crisp them up! Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
Reviewed on Just Eat but food was soggy, tasted like cardboard from the boxes they were in and all the food had sweated. The quality of the food isn’t great either. It took nearly 2 hours for delivery also. £30 wasted.
The staff is polite and the atmosphere is pleasant; however, I must mention that we stopped going to this restaurant because the fish we were served had a lot of bones in it, and it seems that this issue persists. On a positive note, the pizza is very good, but it's disappointing that the fish ended up being wasted because of the excessive bones.
