The Mahogany Dining Room - Alliston

I was SO looking forward to this restaurant and a nice dinner with my husband, unfortunately this was not the case whch was really dissapointing.

We dined with a party of ten for supper. The restaurant had another table of perhaps 14 and two other tables of 2 patrons, so only 20 percent full. Beginning service was good and drinks prompt but that's when is stopped. Our meal took more than 3 hours and only after prompts for entrees. The appetizers were very good and the scallops with risotto spot on. When the entrees finally arrived the duck was so dry it was inedible as well as the chicken supreme. The seafood pasta was bland and had cocktail shrimp in it. As a compliment, many guests had the steak which was very good with a great reduction sauce. Compliments to the manager as he did have a discussion with us and waived the 18 percent gratuity for a large group and removed the substandard meals from our bill. It appears they are very understaffed and glad there was not more people in the restaurant. Expected much more from a restaurant at the resort.

Service was slow at just over 3 hours. Food was good but not great. The desserts were quite good. It would have been better if the overall experience was faster.

The experience was great for my wife and I. Service was fantastic and old but comfortable surroundings.

We ate at the mahogany room for our Nye dinner after attending the gala the night before. The atmosphere was elegant and food was great. Presentation and flavours were superb and cocktails well priced. Unfortunately that was over shadowed by the wait for our food to be served. It may be due to reduced staffing after new years but it shouldn't be an excuse. Other than that it was a good dinner but for the price we expected more from service and timing.
