I’m so glad we d... read more We passed this place on our walk in and out of Alghero each evening and decided to give it a try one night. It seemed very popular with locals. I’m so glad we did!!! The waitresses were absolutely lovely and very patient and smiley (they spoke English but accepted our attempts at Italian with good grace! . We all had pizzas for our meals and absolutely loved them!!! I’ve bedn to Italy many, many times but can honestly say this was the best, most delicious, fresh, tasty pizza I’ve ever had!!! We all loved it there so much that we returned twice more as we just couldn’t resist going back for more of the same! I can’t recommend this place highly enough! Oh and it’s cheap too around 50 euros for 5 of us! If you’re reading this and are about to try it out I’m so jealous!!!

Traditionally the Lanterna is a Pizzeria the pizza is fantastic, made in the wood stove. There is also the usual offer of pasta and fish. What I highly recommend though, are the different kinds of starters which you can choose from the vitrine and the monzette a special kind of snail which is cooked with lots of salt in the oven. They don't always have them, just ask for them. It is worth a try! The ambiance is quite modern, the restaurant is situated a litte outside the old town, about 10 minutes to walk from there. There is also a terrace if you wish to dine outside.

The menu is very extensive, with probably dozens of different pizzas alone.
