Food, atmosphere, customer service was on point! When you walk in, you can smell the spices and man it is amazing! The gentleman, Musa, was so nice and helpful. Their coffee is super strong and so good! It was like nothing I've tasted before. We got our food on a family plate, and it was the best experience ever. You can tell they take pride in their food and you can taste it! 10/10 recommended. Going back to try other things! One vegan, one sort of vegetarian, and one omni... read more Chosen on short notice to accommodate 3 hungry diners commuting from 3 different locations on a Wednesday night. One vegan, one sort of vegetarian, and one omnivore. Something for everyone. Relaxed atmosphere and easy parking (or a longish but walkable hike from Braddock Metro). The very friendly staff/owners patiently explained each of the dishes we inquired about. In the end, the vegan platter won the night as well as the tomato salad and lentil soup! The omnivore ordered something non-vegan but ended up eating all the vegan dishes we ordered instead! We'll definitely be back.

It was our first time trying Ethiopian cuisine, but the owner was very helpful in explaining the menu options and recommended dishes to try for the full experience. Both kids and adults enjoyed the food. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and the prices were reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Despite the menu listing a $20 pot of coffee and an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, the owner informed me that these options were not available because his wife was not present. I settled for a single cup of black coffee and some baklava instead. Unfortunately, the coffee took over 40 minutes to arrive and was weak with no noticeable aroma. The baklava was decent but nothing exceptional. The atmosphere was moderately noisy due to the tile floors reflecting sound. The decor was sparse yet tasteful, with Ethiopian imagery adorning the walls. However, the place felt a bit dim as the curtains were drawn despite plenty of window coverage.

The food and the service is above and beyond what we expected both times we have visited. THIS is a place we plan on visiting much more often! This visit was in celebration of my partner's birthday. My friend and I got dinner earlier today and we were seated immediately without a reservation. The servers were nice and helpful when we asked for recommendations. I also liked that they gave us Deer Park water bottles here instead of tap! SUPER COMBO 30.95 My friend and I shared this and it was much more food than we needed. The super combo came in a huge platter filled with lots of marinated meats and vegetables and a big plate of injera on the side. Each order comes with three meats doro wot chicken's stew with drumstick , chicken infillay, and key wot red beef stew and four vegan options from their vegan sampler. For our four options, we got red lentils, yellow lentils, chickpea puree, and spinach potato. I liked all of the meats for different reasons. The beef was tender and flavorful, and I liked how easily the chicken came off the drumstick. The marinades for all three were different and delicious. The vegan options were super tasty. The red lentils were a spicier version of the yellow lentils ? I think, and I enjoyed the spices that went into it. The chickpea puree had such a smooth texture, probably my favorite vegan option. I also enjoyed the spinach potato. There was so much injera and we weren't able to finish all of our food. The portions here are huge. Overall, pretty good option for Ethiopian in the area!

I had the vegan sampler and was so happy to hear they give you such a wide variety of foods to try. I?ve been to other Ethiopian restaurants that only give you 5 or 6 foods but Hawwi gives you 10 different vegan foods! And it was all so delicious. If I lived in the area I would be a regular but I am traveling and wanted to give Hawwi a try. So glad that I did!

I Will tell you that food adds up quick because I got full so fast but I couldn't stop eating it! Definetly has its mom and pops type shop feel and will definitely be coming back. The owners Definetly know their returning customers because people would drop in just to say hi. Really says a lot about the restaurant. Definetly recommend checking
