Perfect restaurant for a perfect lunch in Alençon. Introduced in the Michelin Guide 2018, this restaurant kept evolving for years and now provides an excellent service and wonderfully cooked dishes. Best restaurant in Alençon! It has fair prices for lunch, around 30€ per menu (entrée plat dessert). View all feedback.

J aime !

Our third visit to this restaurant. This time we opted for the General du Pommeau menu, noting pricing is higher than previously, perhaps because of Michelin recognition. Wine largely absurdly priced, minimum 25 euros a bottle. Service was excellent and well paced, amuse bouche very nice, as was the entree. Our main courses however left much to be desired. Quantity wise, the servings were too small, but worse still, the small square of bar sauvage tasted of little more than boiled fish. The lightly smoked duck, a small rectangle, was without doubt the worst piece of duck I have ever encountered in France. It didn't taste of duck, just generic meat ... similar in fact to the poor quality duck one is usually served with in England. It was chewy as well. Does the chef not check what he is sending out to diners? Our desserts and coffee were as good as they should be, but the main course is what should impress. Our meal cost nearly €150 for the two of us ... we shall not be returning, as we have had far more satisfactory meals for far less money elsewhere. At this level, the meal has to be exceptional ... and it was far from that.

My wife and I were returning home and going through Alencon. This was the first restaurant we passed, and we were attracted by the appearance of the building and garden. So, we made a quick U turn instead of driving around to find something that appealed to us. We were greeted pleasantly by Mme Chauvin and were seated on the terrace with our dog who was offered a bowl of water before we received our beverages : The food was excellent and well presented. The gravlax appetizer was delicious although a couple more cubes of salmon would have been desirable. The main course of duck was delicious. Pricing is moderately high, although 7 euros for a glass of wine and 4 euros for a coke are a little excessive. All in all a pleasant experience and discovery. We would return without hesitation.
