Ming Tree - Alcoa
Ming Tree
Description
Ming Tree offers a mixed dining experience that has garnered both praise and scorn from patrons. While some customers extol the freshness and flavor of dishes like Red Curry Chicken and Pad Thai, others lament overcooked meat and inconsistencies in order fulfillment. Confusion about menu items and a lack of accommodation have also led to dissatisfaction. Despite these criticisms, many longtime fans appreciate the cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and the extensive menu catering to various dietary needs, including vegan options. While the restaurant shows promise, potential diners are advised to proceed with caution given the varied reviews.

It looks like a Chinese restaurant, but it really isn't. The staff were friendly and all, but it was odd to not see 1 Asian person in the entire place besides myself. I shrugged it off and went ahead and gave the place a solid chance because let's face it, it's really all about the food anyways. The prices were not cheap, it was over $15 for a to-go order of Beef and Broccoli with white rice. It must be a big portion for that price. I went ahead and ordered it and waited around and scoped out the rest of the place. Lovely oriental art hanging on the walls, it would appear the restaurant owners must be Chinese. I took a peak into the kitchen through the door window and still saw no Asian people. Let me add that I was raised in a Cantonese restaurant, and I sample Chinese cuisines all around the world during my military travels. But let's get back to the food. When I received my order, it was a pretty small bag and smelled nothing like any beef and broccoli I've ever had before. It didn't smell Chinese. Needless to saw, it was horrible quality, and it was clear they used alternative ingredients that weren't Chinese or Thai. They charged an absurd amount for a stingy portioned sized container that they didnt even fill to the top. There was far more veggies than beef, and I'm not a fan of having bamboo chutes included in that dish. This is probably the 2nd worst Chinese restaurant in the world that I've eaten at (this small place outside the Vatican in Rome, Italy still holds the title for worst).
Well definitely stop here again. Food was as expected nice and hot and good. Very clean restaurant with a very friendly staff. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Fried Rice, Egg Drop Soup

We have frequented the Ming Tree for over 25 years and have always found the food to be consistently good. On Jan 10, 2024, paid for lunch for 3 people about $33 while getting enough food to take some home. They just recently renovated the restaurant to make it look very nice.
