What User doesn't like about Carrier Arms Hotel:
This restaurant used to be a popular spot, but after the last licensee left, the owner is now trying to sell it and run the place themselves. The venue could use some improvements and has the potential to become a successful pub once again. View all feedback.
A meal here is enjoyable as it's out of the way a bit so it's not that well known. The meal was quickly served. This is a pub restaurant.
I was craving a chicken schnitzel, so we decided to try the bistro at Carriers Arms. We arrived early and were impressed by the well-presented bistro. The staff were friendly, polite, and attentive, constantly checking if we needed anything (which is rare these days). Our meals were delicious, with generous portions and high quality. The pepper sauce was especially tasty. After finishing our main course, we decided to order dessert. The banana fritters with ice cream were a delightful treat, just like the rest of our meal. Overall, I highly recommend Carriers Arms for a delicious and affordable meal. I will definitely be returning in the future.
This pub is the best in wodonga even for entertainment give them a chance they have the right charm to help others and they make a darn good meal
On average we had to wait 90 minutes for meals to be brought out. My Pork Belly, chips & salad was nice but a small portion when I finally got it but my husband didn't like the Pesto Lamb Cutlets. They were really dry & tough. One of our group paid for a tasting plate but it was given to another guest at our table. Just plopped in front of them without asking was it theirs. Unfortunately they accepted it and didn't say it wasn't theirs. Two others had to cook their own steak on the stone plate. One piece was boneless the other had a great whopping big bone through it. The stone plate wasn't hot enough to cook a steak with bone through it. We phoned through the day to book in our table of 18 but when we arrived there was one waitress taking the orders and serving them to the table. There were two tables one of 8 and ours. Don't ask for a jug of water, not sure what was floating around in it but it wasn't good. I asked if I ordered dessert how long I would have to wait only to be told maybe 15-20 mins but no guarantees. I walked up to the service station up the road and bought an ice cream.
We really liked the feel of this restaurant - very casual, the staff were great, food was excellent and prices were very reasonable. My partner had the stone grill Mixed Grill and said it was great, I had the chicken seafood which was lovely, particularly the sauce accompanying it. As one reviewer has already said, the restaurant decor is simplistic, but we didn't care about that. It's clean, the service is great and the staff are lovely. We felt like we were in a real country pub - nothing pretentious about it, but doing all the right things to make it an enjoyable dinner out. We will definitely be going back.
