Reviews summary

Dining at this restaurant elicits mixed feelings, intertwining creativity with inconsistency. While some patrons rave about the exceptional vegan pecan ramen and unique specials, others point to disorganized service, unappetizing dishes, and a questionable atmosphere. Complaints about high prices juxtaposed with inadequate service raise eyebrows, with several diners noting discomfort in the establishment. The decor and concept receive commendation, yet they cannot fully compensate for flaws in cleanliness and hospitality. This establishment's potential is overshadowed by customer dissatisfaction, yet its inventive dishes seem to resonate with a select few, leaving a fractured impression on the culinary landscape.

Was Brine Gill at Oni a mag?

I couldn't resist trying the pecan ramen at this restaurant and I'm so glad I did. The tofu was cooked perfectly, the broth was amazing, and the roasted turnips and mushrooms were delicious. We will definitely be returning! View all feedback.

What Daniel Orzelek dislikes about Oni:

Came here because of the bone marrow. Looked delicious in the picture. Didn't realize it was bison bone marrow. Very gamey. Food was okay but not to my taste. It's like a fusion of some type. Very creative. Kimchi was not good at all. Tasted like a cabbage soaked in vinegar. I guess I'm getting old because it was more of a college vibe. Cramped spaces and loud music playing the whole time. View all feedback.

I would rate ZERO STARS!!! Yesterday my friends I went downtown to enjoy the GZA The Phunky Nomads show. Before it started we wanted to have dinner. I walked into this establishment and received the worst customer service not just from 1 employee but 3. First I walked up to the bar the male employee was nice, he apologized he was new so he had to ask another male employee the questioned I asked. He came back began to answer my question, when all of sudden a female employee walked up interrupted him telling me what, what do you want in a rude tone. Then when I tried to speak she rudely cut me off. Then another female employee walked up that was asking me what I wanted in a rude manner too. The first employee interrupted again told me I cannot order a drink unless I ordered food. Then I asked if I sit at the bar order my food while waiting for my order can I order a drink, she had to think about it them rudely said I guess that will be fine . Then she told me rudely oh if you want to order food you have to go over there, stand in line, we don 't take any orders at the bar . The new employee looked embarrassed the way she was acting. As the male employee started to speak again she rudely interrupted him again snapping saying we only have local tequila quickly pointing towards the shelf, I asked if I could see the bottle closer she seemed so annoyed rolling her eyes. I felt like I was the biggest burden to her by the way she was treating me. She repeated pointed to the front That 's where you order food '!I walked to the front counter asked for a paper menu to take to my group of friends the employee at the front told me he didn 't know where any of the menus were. That 's when I decided that they really do not want my business.

I appreciate the small, simple menu that focuses on quality dishes, and I think the specials help keep things interesting. I do wish there was an easier way to find out about the specials without having to check Instagram, where they may not always be displayed. My favorite dish at this restaurant is the pecan ramen.

I just went here for the first time and it was simply wonderful! It’s order at the counter, and the food came within five minutes. I got the ribs and noodles with added broth, and my husband enjoyed the green Chile ramen. The staff was super friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning.

All around terrible experience, very regular customers. This place has slowly gone down hill. Usually the customer service is always bad but this time the food was terrible. I had to take my food up because I realized I didn’t get any pork belly, and at $15 for a bowl I just wanted it to be good. Let’s just say that CAITLYN was EXTREMELY RUDE. I wouldn’t even have left review, because, yes, the food wasn’t the best but obviously they were slammed. But because of CAITLYNS terrible interaction and attitude we will no longer come to this establishment and definitely stear friends and family far from it. What a shame…

Wow, I was blown away by how incredible the pecan ramen at this restaurant is, just as the reviews on Happy Cow mentioned. It was an absolutely delightful dish. The shiitake dumplings were also outstanding, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

The pecan ramen is truly delightful. The broth is incredibly flavorful and harmonizes perfectly with the other ingredients without overshadowing them. If you like a little heat, you might want to add some chili to your dish. I also had the vegan mushroom balls, which were tasty, though they won't appeal to anyone who isn't a fan of mushrooms.

I ordered the vegan pecan ramen, and it was absolutely delicious! If HappyCow offered a 5-star rating, it still wouldn't be enough. I also sampled the kimchi of the day, which was vibrant and extremely flavorful.

Have the vegan pecan ramen and it was amazing! If Happycow gave me 5 stars, it would be the merit of them. I also have the Kimchi of the day, the radish and Oh so delish.

Pecan Ramen, Champignons and okra all so delicious. That was a delicious vegan heaven for us! Trust us! We're from California and we never had better!

The shoyu ramen featured rich, complex flavors that blended beautifully. It’s one of the best shoyu ramens I’ve had, and I’ve sampled it at many places. The garlic chili noodles were packed with flavor, and the egg added a wonderfully creamy texture. The cucumber salad was refreshingly crisp, complemented by a delicious miso citrus dressing. I’ll definitely be returning. I’m really glad so many people recommended this spot!

I visited Oni based on a recommendation and ordered beef tartare, dumplings, two bowls of Shoyu ramen, and shared a Bison bone dish. The total came to $95, including tip, and we only had water to drink. While the food didn’t fully meet my expectations, I won’t go into details. The atmosphere at Oni is fantastic, and I really appreciate the thoughtful decor and concept. The service was good, and it’s clear why locals are so enthusiastic about this spot. Overall, I value the introduction of new, innovative restaurants like Oni to Albuquerque’s dining scene and look forward to exploring more items from their menu.

I truly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant! The specials were excellent, and the staff provided exceptional service. The chef presented the ramen in such a beautiful, Instagram-worthy way. The vegetarian options were impressive, especially compared to other ramen places I've visited. I can't wait to come back!

I regret waiting so long to dine here—I’ve truly been missing out! My husband and I ordered pork dumplings and ribs as appetizers. For our main courses, he chose the shoyu ramen while I opted for the pecan ramen. The dumplings arrived first, and I could tell they were freshly made, as the waiter confirmed. The filling was perfectly seasoned and topped with an incredible garlicky chili oil. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone, accompanied by a slightly sweet and spicy red chili sauce. I would gladly order both of these dishes every time! For my main, I chose the pecan ramen, which came with tofu, shiitake mushrooms, expertly cooked delicata squash, and a perfectly soft egg that added a delightful creaminess to the broth. I usually don’t go for vegetarian dishes when dining out, but this one sounded too tempting to resist! My husband’s shoyu ramen also impressed him; one sip of the broth was all it took for him to know the rest of the dish would be exceptional. The depth of flavor is a testament to the time and care that goes into preparing the food—no shortcuts here! I highly recommend this place; there are very few restaurants that earn my endorsement. I can’t wait to try more dishes from Oni! In fact, one of the chefs, Benjamin, came out to chat with us about a duck confit ramen, which I’m eagerly looking forward to!

This is the most innovative and delicious ramen I have ever tasted! I highly recommend giving it a try! It’s a smaller yet very popular restaurant, so expect to wait if you plan to dine in.
