This bar is fantastic! From the outside there is little to indicate it is a bar but it is definitely worth stopping at. We visited at night time but the view over Paderne visit and the lights of the village was beautiful and I can only imagine this is stunning by day light. The almond cake is homemade and truely delicious definitely worthy trying! We had a 2 pieces of cake, 2 large wines, a small and large beer for €8!! The atmosphere inside the bar is welcoming and relaxed and the fire was lovely! I would really recommend visiting if staying near Paderne or if driving past!
A very typical portuguese place . enjoy the medronho and the quietness of the area . they serve meals , but only basic food. sitting on the terrace outside , a bottle of white wine and nothing happening ...portugal at its best
This exceptional cafe is a true gem ! We found it by accident many years ago and have never missed an opportunity to visit . Fatima is a lovely Portuguese Lady we phone ahead and order our Chicken lunch as there are 6 of us . The table is laid ready for us with a warm welcome . Stunning views as we drink coffee after.
Cafe Dos Matos is run by Fatema, a lovely lady who greets you with a smile and welcomes you into her cafe. The coffee is good and the Almond cake is very tasty, we went back twice more. You can either sit inside and look through the many books of different languages or sit outside and admire the view over the hills. Once while we were there, there was a parrot in a cage outside, which I must admit being very much into wildlife, I felt sorry for the parrot, but it did at least look healthy and was squawking away to us. Overall, a great little place for a coffee and cake while relaxing and doing absolutely nothing, I could easily live there. 10 /10.
Staying in a villa up the hill, we initially only called in for a beer but after chatting to the owner fatima, decided to eat there the following evening. No menu as such, we just told her the sort of things we like and she replied I cook, all good, no worries! True to her word, we arrived and a lovely marble table had been reserved for us, the 'couvert ' was lovely, olives, bread, pieces of cheese and ham and the best tuna pate we 'd ever eaten! This was followed by a huge dish of chicken with potatoes, a salad, fries and a bowl of the most flavoursome rice imaginable. Bottle of wine, several large beers, almond cake and coffees...bit apprehensive as to what the bill would come to, not having seen a menu, so all 5 of us were making guesses.... €90....!! None of us came up with that price..for 5! Fabulous, can 't speak highly enough of this little gem. So good that we changed our last night 's reservation in villamoura for a meal and came here. Don 't be put off by the fact that there 's no menu, give fatima notice and an idea of what you like and I can assure you, you won 't be disappointed... Can 't wait to return!
