The first time in this restaurant in Berkeley. My friend invited me because she had a good experience here. We ordered the appetizer who was very tasty and tasted everything so fresh. My friend ordered the beef kebab and the meat was so perfectly seasoned and tender. Delicious! I had the moussaka and it was very delicious. It's just a very hot dish so you have to wait a few minutes before you can take a good bite. Ov... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Zaytoon Mediterranean Restaurant And Bar:
Zaytoon didn?t match our expectations unfortunately. Have tasted much tastier chicken grilled kebabs in other Mediterranean restaurants in the Bay Area. They ran out of the Maklouba, which we were really looking forward to try. The highlight of our meal were the Fried Zahra (cauliflower), the chicken rolls (Musakhan rolls) were bland. Same state of the Warak Inab. Our host was good but did mess up our order multiple... View all feedback.
Absolutely delicious and so many tasty and well-thought out and executed vegan options that feel like a whole meal and not the pale and weaker sibling of the meat version. My husband, who is not vegan, also loved his beef and lamb shawarma and my in-laws loved their chicken and couscous platter. Customer service was excellent too and we did not find it to be over priced relative to the quality and portion sizes. Had a wonderful birthday dinner with my family. We dined outside as it was a bit too cold inside (my only small complaint! but next time will make a point to bring layers so we can enjoy the beautifully decorated indoor space. Thank you to the wonderful staff and will be coming back.
Fresh delicious quality dining. I was impressed with the appetizers, the drinks and entrées. Everything was very good.
Ordered the chicken kebab, with rice and salad. Chicken was bone dry, rice was wet, and the salad had almost no dressing on it. Not a great choice. The only reason I gave it two stars is the restaurant is very clean, and the service was ok. But as for the food, at least what I ordered today, next time I'm in the area I'll try the tacos up the block.
Good but can get better Mediterranean food for much cheaper at same level of delicious. Baklava ice cream dessert was top notch though. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
Delightful Mediterranean selection in the Mazza Platter, including creamy hummus, smoky baba ghannouj, and zesty tabouli. Eggplant salad and falafel added satisfying crunch, creating a well-rounded introduction. Halloumi Salad combined salty halloumi with fresh greens, pomegranate, and bean sprouts, tied together by zesty garlic vinaigrette—a refreshing interlude. The Outstanding Mansaf: Braised lamb shank in sheep's yogurt over rice, lavash, pine nuts; tender lamb, unique yogurt twist—an unforgettable combo. We had the Crumbled Baklava, containing walnuts, pistachios, vanilla ice cream, and caramel, as our final dessert! Overall, an exceptional experience; though slight saltiness in dishes was a minor drawback, it didn't overshadow the delightful defining flavors.
