La Serre has all the qualities you'd expect at an upscale french restaurant except the good food. My duck l'orange had good sauce, but pactically everything was bland including potatoes and vegetables. They need a better chef, or they need to dropthe prices. 2 glasses of wine, an appetizer, and two basic entrees was $130 with 20% tip. View all feedback.
I just love this place!!! Once in a while we splurge on a date night, and when I pick it is always here.
Ate here during Albany's Restaurant week, so our menu was limited to the options that came with that deal, but my gf and I absolutely loved this place.
Like other reviews, I will say that they did treat the Groupon person differentlyDon't understand why restaurants sell groupons if they disdain them.
A hidden gem... got a groupon and took my wife and daughters to dinner.... we were pleasantly greeted. It was like walking back in time... cozy, juicy and welcoming. The service was excellent, food was phenomenal and the experience makes us back!! An unbeliever must be with woman/girlfriend on the date night!!!
La Serre is an institution in Albany. My fiancée and I held an engagement party there / dinner with family and everything was wonderful. The interior is beautiful with the classic elegance that you can only find in historic restaurants. The service was excellent. The food is always great their menu has classic dishes with a mixture of seafood, chicken, beef, vegetarian, with French and Italian influences. I was very surprised by some of the negative reviews. I have dinner in La Serre every time I visit Albany and it is always great. Yes, some nights may not be very busy, especially if the legislator is from the session and the city center is not busy. However, staff and owners always seem to like to serve (yes, the owner is there most nights). For a nice, elegant dinner, La Serre is a great choice.
