R. Shea Brewing - Akron
R. Shea Brewing
Description
A beloved Akron brewery in a repurposed factory delivers a rotating lineup of standout microbrews, generous samples, and hearty pub fare in an industrial-chic, energetic setting. Favored for events, happy hour, outdoor seating and plentiful free parking, it’s praised for pizzas, burgers and attentive staff. However, the large open floor plan can be very loud—disrupting trivia and quiet meals—and some guests report recent dips in food quality. Community support efforts are underway as the venue works to remain a local staple.

This brewery is right downtown in the Canal Place. I'm not sure why it took us so long to go here but I'm glad we decided to stop in. The setting is a warehouse and a little to big but would be great on a busy not or for an event. Of course, R. SheaBrewing has a nice selection of beers. The food was a nice surprise. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it was very good. The fried chicken was a nice touch and cheese was on point. The crust was one of the best I've had in Akron...house made...notto thick or thin and was cooked through. The OG Brewhoyse burger was also very good..beer cheese sauce was excellent...howeverthe burger is always cooked well done and it was a little tough but flavorful. Overall a great experience and we are excited togo back and try some more brews and great food!
Really comfortable brewery with a good variety of brews! The staff was very attentive and helpful and very generous with samples of their various beers so you can pick one especially to your liking. They have a happy hour and some appetizers are onspecial during HH. This brewery is located in an old factory building which makes it so cool. Outdoor seating is available also.
I had a friend fly in from LA and we went brewery hoping! This was not at all what I was expecting!!!! I was pleasantly surprised when I walked it. The place is one of the coolest places I have seen! The Taco pizza is amazing and every beer I triedwas just as good as the next! Fried pickles and a flight of beer! All were in my top 5! This is a must visit if you are doingthe Ohio On Tap trail!!!
The noise level in this place is overwhelming; it’s so loud you can barely hear yourself think. The beer is decent, and the food is just average. While the atmosphere initially seems appealing, it quickly becomes unpleasant due to the concert-like volume. This just isn’t my scene.
The beer is fantastic, as always, and we absolutely love this location in Akron—it's a real asset to the area. However, the food quality has significantly declined. It seems like everything is frozen now, which wasn't the case before. This is disappointing because the food used to be excellent all around. It would be better to cut costs in other areas, as we won’t be returning for a meal until there’s an improvement in the food. It's truly a letdown.
