What JT thompson doesn't like about Jade Of China:
Absolutely terrible in every aspect! This is, without a doubt, the worst Chinese food I've ever had, not just in Aiken, SC, but in many other cities and states as well. Do not waste your money here! View all feedback.
After picking up my food, I drove 15 minutes home. Just as I was about to dip it in gravy, I decided to tear off a piece first, and that’s when I discovered shrimp hidden inside. I have a severe allergy to shrimp. When I called the restaurant, instead of offering an apology, the same gentleman insisted he had taken my order and that I hadn’t mentioned anything about allergies. As if I would ever order something that could harm me! I carry an epipen because my reactions are so severe. He remained unapologetic, so I asked how I would be compensated for the mix-up. He said he would only replace the dish, but I needed to bring back what they gave me to get a replacement. Are you serious? I will be returning the food, but I don't want a substitute – I just want my money back. I will never set foot in this restaurant again. If you choose to go here, consider yourself warned – always check your food thoroughly before eating!

Next, we tried the Dragon and Phoenix, which also came with Fried Rice and Wonton Soup. The white sauce was very nice, but once again, the rice was disappointing. The Wonton Soup was decent by modern standards, but I couldn’t help but wonder where the slices of pork and greens went – they used to be a staple in this dish. We also ordered the Roast Pork Egg Foo Young from the dinner menu since it’s not available during lunch hours. I asked for it with white rice, but I wished there had been more rice. The gravy was thick, and while I prefer pork in chunks, this came in long strips. Many Chinese restaurants struggle with making good gravy, and unfortunately, Jade of China falls into that category. We’ve been coming to this restaurant on and off for several years, but today was our most disappointing visit. Given that Aiken has many other dining options, we likely won’t be returning.
Everything was good tasting and great service. The place is just old and tired. In the need for a face-lift.
Best Chinese restaurant in Aiken. I've been eating here for over 40 years.
