Wandering around Agen's pleasant side streets in search of somewhere for lunch, we passed L'Acetho, which doesn't look particularly eye catching from the outside. A glance at the menu coupled with our need for food persuaded us that it might be worth a try. Good decision. We ate outside, a little terrace in an alley behind the restaurant. The service was convivial, the food excellent well presented and with innovative combinations of ingredients. Not sure whether English is spoken as we were able to converse in French, but communication should be no problem. This meal was the highlight of a very enjoyable day spent with friends in Agen. Recommended.

We were in Agen on National Music Day and the main restaurant strip was full of people, tables, and music stages. Not what we were looking for. Then we stumbled upon L'Acetho, and spoke to some of the staff taking a break out front before service. Could they do vegetarian? Oui. Could they handle an allergy to capsicum/bell-peppers/poivron? Oui. So we returned later in the evening, and ordered two menu surprise, one vegetarian sans poivron. And it was a-mazing. Combinations of ingredients and flavours that have you mildly sceptical, but which will tantalise and delight your tastebuds. Part of the menu surprise is guessing what you had eaten. Which added to the enjoyment. All this together with our patient waiter (at one point I have him my phone to use Google translate to compensate for our lack of French) made for a great evening. And the guy we spoke to earlier? That would be Thomas Marguin, one of the two amazing chefs working their magic in the kitchen.

My sister and I treated my parents to a meal at this restaurant for their wedding anniversary. As we rarely go to Agen we had to rely on Tripadvisor, and with some trepidation booked this one. We were not disappointed. My parents loved their meal, claiming it was one of the best steaks they've had in years. The price point seemed very reasonable too. Happy to find a little gem in a generally hum-drum town. Will be recommending to everyone.

Recommended by our hotel for which we are very grateful. This hidden gem of a restaurant is situated on a side street. We opted to dine outside.......in a narrow alley at the back of the restaurant the atmosphere was superb. I have had Michelin meals with courses not as good as those we had here and at a fraction of the price. Fine dining al fresco in Agen not to be missed. Service was excellent and look at the photos of a selection of our courses. You will not be disappointed go there....

This is a recently opened restaurant where we dined in a quiet passage cum terasse under medieval house walls. There was a small but excellent choice of courses prepared with inventive flavours such a coffee with mushrooms which really worked. Small but excellent wines too and service efficient, and altogether excellent value both financially and gastronomically.
