I needed a walk at lunchtime to clear the cobwebs and Vietnamese Laundry had been on my list for a while so I hiked over to the other side of town looking forward to a bowl of pho. The need to walk so far may have elevated my expectations above normal so when I was advised that they only do bowls of pho on Saturday since it was a weekday I could only get a cup I was slightly deflated. Since I was really hungry by this stage I ordered a cup of pho and a roast pork noodle salad. The cup was a generous cup with tasty broth and nice meat. My pho need was slightly satisfied, The noodle salad was ok. Crunchy roast pork had bumped the rating up a bit. I was disappointed that even though I was eating in both the soup and the salad came in takeaway packaging - cute / trendy but I question the sustainability of it. I realize the kitchen is small but a few bowls and spoons surely wouldn't go astray?
Checked out the Vietnamese Laundry for dinner on a cold Friday night. The place appeared to be cosy however the music was WAY too loud. The menu was simple. More tapas-styled. We had the sharing Chopping Board. I thought it was pretty good! Everything on it was amazing. I would definitely come back here again.
Was recommended by a friend to try this place out. First impressions is that the decor and atmosphere is nice and cosy. This lunch outlet usually gets busy and so I was excited to see what they offered. Spring rolls, bread rolls, salad bowls is the standard offering. Was keen to try out their roast pork roll as there are many places which are popping up and claiming they have the best rolls in town. $7 for a roll is slightly more expensive that what you would expect to pay. Bread was hard and not crunchy as I had hope. Open the roll up and there was limited meat. With whatever meat there was there wasn't that 'crunch' from the roast pork crackling which I would have expected. The roll just lacked flavour albeit there chilli in the roll is hot. The service is quick and the staff are friendly. All in all when compared to the price of the roll and what is available elsewhere Vietnamese laundry has unfortunately not hit the spot for me.
