Star House - Adelaide
Star House
Description
A recently reviewed Chinese restaurant on Gouger Street in the city has left diners divided on their experience. While some patrons were impressed with the efficient service, generous portion sizes, and tasty dishes such as peaking ribs and lotus seafood tofu steamed dish, others were left disappointed by the rude and unprofessional staff, dirty tables, and ordinary food quality. Despite the mixed reviews, Star House has been recognized as one of the top Chinese restaurants on Gouger Street, with many praising the attentive wait staff and recommending it as a go-to spot for a large group. Whether you're looking for a delicious meal or a place to catch up with friends, Star House seems to be a popular choice among locals.

Possibly the worst meal me and my fellow guests have ever had and also the rudest unprofessional staff I've come across in over 40years of frequenting restaurants..raw fatty inedible food backed up with an unfriendly staff attitude. I could go on and on but suffice to day just don't go. There are far better places in Gouger st so don't waste you hard earned money on this place..Jim Janet and others
Booked for a Sunday 10:30am Yum Cha seating and was relatively happy with this visit. The service was good, the food was good with the exclusion of a couple of dishes. The chicken feet and the tendons were a tad bit undercooked. Flavours were there but they weren't as soft as they should be. Other than that, everything else was spot on. Oh and the Portuguese tarts - YUM!! Get them.
Get in early it gets packed! It's worth the wait otherwise. Yum cha seating is the go! Great place meet few friends. Perfect for hungover hungry Sunday's! Yum!
This is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in Adelaide. The seafood was fresh, S&P coating was very well seasoned and fried and super crunchy! My husband even liked the fried rice with pork floss though slightly different from the conventional SFR, was still very delicious and unique. The pork belly in claypot melted in your mouth and had the right level of saltiness. Service was very quick too considering how full the restaurant was. I would've preferred a lower noise level, but food was tasty enough to cover up the noise. : Highly recommended.
I went to Star House a few times years ago. This time I went there with 2 friends for yum cha again. I love the steamed pork rib and the chicken feet, the rice pastry with Chinese donut was also very yummy. The sauces came in with the dishes were nice too. The staff were friendly and very helpful, nice and fast service. Big dining area which can fit lots of people. We ordered 10 dishes which was more than enough for us, and a glass of pineapple juice. We didn't have much left overs and almost finished everything. It costed us more than $100. So I would say the price is a bit high. But food was really yummy. Recommend this Chinese restaurant for yum cha.
