Pretty nice establishment, great high ceilings, friendly service. Love the teeny little choc balls that you receive on arrival, they sort of remind me of a little baby Maltesers!Ordered the chocolate soufflé with ice cream, not really a soufflé, more like a lava cake, pretty rich and a tad floury. I did notice that nothing is made fresh except milkshakes and the such. The waffles are already done and other items as well, so they just get reheated and served. Being a cold night, I would have liked to have seen some more hot desserts on the menu as there are not that many. They have a nice selection of gifts with funky bags and wrappings. Nothing here is cheap, but I suppose you need to cover those exorbitant rents in Rundle Street!!
As a group we had 2 of the Fondue platters. The chocolate was nice and the condiments were delicious, however $10 each person didn't go overly far. Being the only ones in the shop, it took a lengthy time to get to the table and no one was 'wow-ed' by anything that was put down. The food was delicious, just slightly overpriced for what you get.
Great to visit and view the flavours and shapes of the chocolates, but we found them to be a little expensive for what they were.
We tried the decadent chocolate ice cream and found it to be intense and rich, almost overpowering but still hitting the mark. It was delicious, dark, and incredibly smooth. Absolutely mind-blowing.
If you're a die-hard chocolate fan, then this place is a must! Located on the vibrant strips of Rundle Street, this chocolate bar has placed itself as a competitor next to Cocolat (another chocolate dessert restaurant). This Max Brenner is quite spacious, staff are attentive,...and standard is similar to interstate franchises. Ordered was two Belgian waffles coated in their signature chocolate, in addition to small serves of banana, strawberries, and two scoops of vanilla ice-scream. This dessert might seem refreshing at first with the fruits and ice-cream, but one can only handle so much sweetness!
