What User dislikes about Foyer Cafe:
With friends we decided to have a coffee at what is supposed to be a Diamond in our tourist drawcard.Thought it strange at 11a.m. on a Friday that no one was seated. Dirty cups at tables. Cold and unwelcoming. We ordered coffees and my guest commented to the somewhat arrogant attendant that the coffee cups were very small. The staff response, "I don't make the rules, I only play by them." Staff were not worthy of thei... View all feedback.

Great Theatre Complex with 3 great theatres. Food is really good and service excellent. Great Cafe to sit, relax and enjoy good coffee and snacks.

Called in for quick lunch prior to show, great coffee, muffins fresh and yummy. Platter was very tasty and service was polite and fast. Thanks again

If driving to a show at the Festival Centre, you need to arrive in town early to get a parking spot anywhere close to the theatre, so you will probably need to grab a bite to eat prior to the performance. We decided to take the quick and easy option and get a coffee and a snack at the Foyer Café, which is a queue-and-order-at-the-counter venue. I ordered a 'tasting plate' for $15, which advertised pate, pickled cherries and pita bread. The pate came in a tiny pot (I could just about circle it with my thumb and forefinger) topped with three transparent slivers of something - definitely not pickled cherries - and, I will admit, a generous service of toasted pita wedges (way too many for the amount of pate provided!). $15 worth? I don't think so! The coffee was good, but there were no spoons provided, so I had to use a straw from the self-service area. The venue is pretty basic and lacking any ambience and although it wasn't a busy time, the staff seemed hassled and not very friendly. Other food coming out to other diners looked and smelled good, but I can't comment on the prices - I assume they would have been more than the tasting plate I had, and the serves looked about entrée-sized. Personally, unless you're in a real hurry, I would recommend walking on a bit further to North Terrace and going to one of the numerous cafes there. After the show, when you may want to stop to discuss the performance and have a coffee and a piece of cake without going searching for something open - the Foyer Café is inevitably closed! (The drinks at the Piano Bar are also expensive - the cheapest glass of wine available being $8 a glass)

I believe the price was too high for the portion size. You can find a larger breakfast for half the cost elsewhere.
