Royal Pizzeria - ACQUI TERME

I was invited to celebrate the 60th birthday of a Dutch friend in this restaurant. We were with 12 people in total and started with an antipasto (vegetarian for me), then a pizza the topping which everybody could choose individually and then the lights dimmed and the birthday cake arrived. The pizzas have a nice thin crust, the topping is perfect, the antipasto and the cake were delicious and we left around 11 after a lot of singing, jokes and laughter. Good staff, friendly and nice to see the open forno where the pizzas are baked.

I ordered a traditional Italian pizza napoletana. It was really well made: the dough was well cooked but soft inside and the border was crunchy, which I really like. Service was timely, and price was also reasonable.

The location with its tiny outside terrace is very central almost next to the 'fontane d 'acqua presso ' at piazza Italia. The waitress was outstanding friendly and polite and really all which is indeed laudable and the sole reason that this review gets an 'average ' rating and not a poor one. Forget about the expensive but sour white wine, the shock defrosted and dry fish fillet from the freezer, the spongy bred and the pizza with its disproportionate thick and doughy base. The bill however was rather in the range of a first class restaurant.
