Gente Di Mare - ACI CASTELLO

We've been at Gente di Mare with family and friends as our last night in Sicily. Recommendation came from the hosts of the villa where we stayed and they also joined us. As you walk in a massive fish display is at the entrance and the kitchen is very visible. Have to say that I've found the floor a bit sticky and the impression wasn't the best, this include the chefs at work, and a overall not so great first impression, however, probably due to the guest we had, known to management, immediately we received a warm welcome and we've been escorted to the table. To our surprise, we realised we were sitting on the edge of a cliff over the sea, being evening we didn't noticed until was pointed out, hence the first improvement that management should look into it, are some form of light over the sea. Food was quite tasty, although we felt the pressure from waiting staff in ordering, to avoid delays as the place could get busy and extra waiting was possible. The restaurant was almost empty all evening, therefore the pressure was unnecessary. All in all a good experience, but mostly for the company. If in the area, I will surely come back, maybe on a busy night to check the waiting times.

We went in this restaurant twice during our vacation in Acitrezza. It 's an incredible fish restaurant. The owner can explain you everything about poor local fresh fish that normally you don 't find in a restaurant or in a fish shop. Each starter is for two people and you can try small portion of fish, mussels, cocklesses and wild vegetables. Try spaghetti della strega or fish carbonara unbelievable! You really feel to be at home. Good price!

Great food cooked as never seen before great taste with very strong character chef that drive you in the food highness of taste .

You just get the catch of the day. Daily proposal are as per the fish catched by the cooperative (owner of the restaurant). The chef is trying his best....the fish is really fresh and cooked in a simple way. Better to ask for suggestions and wait for the surprise. Really reccomended if you 're looking for local fish cooked in a family way. If you 're looking for a professional service and for a huge list of wines, then, you 're simply in the wrong place. Really good. They may seat next to you and talk about the way they catch the fishes...

I went twice in 2 weeks! Real fresh local fish cooked with traditional Sicilian recipes Amazing Local catch which is impossible to find in any other restaurants. The price is just right and the service a bit slow, but this is just the Acitrezza 's way of Doing things. I will recommend to anyone who is not in a hurry and has a craving for local catch and not the typical fish restaurant
