Description

The Grace Museum in Abilene is a charming, compact cultural gem in a former hotel, blending art galleries, local history and a lively children's play area. Interactive installations, period rooms and tactile exhibits delight families, while attentive staff and elegant event spaces make it a popular wedding venue. Convenient parking and nearby cafés add to its appeal. Visitors praise its community value and affordability, though advocates note a need for better staff training in neurodiversity to ensure all children feel fully welcomed.

I really enjoy the Grace Museum, but I believe the staff could benefit from better training on how to interact with children with autism. I took my nonverbal children there today, and they struggle with understanding the concept of inside and outside voices. While we were in the play area, one of the cleaning staff repeatedly told my kids to be quiet, saying it three times. Since my children couldn’t respond or understand her requests, it was disheartening to see her growing more upset with them. With only two other kids present in the area, I felt frustrated because it is meant to be a space for children to play freely. I just wanted a place for my kids to enjoy themselves without worrying about being judged. After the third warning from the staff member, I decided to take my children home.

What a lovely museum! Although it's small, I appreciate the chance to explore the old hotel. The first two floors feature art galleries, while the second floor has a really fun space for kids. The third floor offers more insights into local history. I had a great time learning about Abilene! The original train station is just across the street, and there are several statues of storybook characters nearby. There is designated parking for the museum located behind the hotel (on the opposite side from the front entrance), with both covered and uncovered spaces. I also found ample street parking right at the corner. Plus, there’s a coffee shop and a restaurant nearby that seemed to be open at 10 am.

I am so grateful we selected The Grace to host our son's wedding. The venue is stunning, and the staff is exceptional. They are incredibly helpful and provide everything you need to create a beautiful event. The value you get for your money at this venue is unbeatable. There is no other place in Abilene as elegant and beautiful as The Grace Museum. Thomas and his team are the best I've ever encountered. I truly appreciate our decision to choose The Grace for this celebration of marriage!

Visited with the family. Everyone loved the third floor, and the art on the second was really great. They have TONS of stuff for kids under 10. I've lived the in area most of my life, I wish I knew this was here before.

Nice museum in a restored old hotel. Visited between art exibit so we didn't any of that. Nice kids area and art resource library.
