I absolutely love the food here—no complaints on that front—but the service leaves much to be desired. It's as if the staff hasn't quite mastered the customer interaction skills needed for a pleasant dining experience. Whenever I visit, I feel rushed to place my order, and then I'm largely ignored once the food arrives at the table. Things change a bit if you arrive closer to closing time. Although the posted hours say they close at 10 PM, they actually start preparing to leave at that time. They tend to pressure you to finish up by 9 PM, making you feel uncomfortable and prompting you to wrap up your meal at home instead. However, I must reiterate, the food is absolutely delicious!
The only downside was that the shrimp still had their tails on, which made it a bit cumbersome to eat and left my fingers messy. Other than that, the food was a real hit. However, the service was lacking. I only saw the waitress three times: when she took our order, when she brought our drinks, and then again when we were ready to pay. A different server brought our food, and no one came by to refill our drinks. My drink was empty just 30 seconds after she left, and I ended up eating most of my meal without anything to drink. My wife, noticing my struggle with the heat of the dish, eventually got up and went to the counter to ask for a refill. I gulped it down quickly, but still no one came to check on us. In the end, we decided to get a to-go tray, settle the bill, and leave. What was frustrating is that there were eight employees behind the counter chatting and laughing while we were the only customers in the whole restaurant. It seemed like no one noticed us until it was time to add a tip, at which point the service became overly friendly. I would definitely come back for the food, but as for the service… I might as well just get it to go since I'd have to take care of everything myself anyway.
I only get to visit Abilene once every few years. In 2018 I visited this restaurant nearer to downtown Abilene … and was so happy to find out they are still in business, just in a different location!!! Their food is amazing!!! So bold in flavors and generous portions! Just as good as I remember it from a few years back — maybe even better! I highly recommend this restaurant. Try it —you will not be disappointed!!!Vegetarian options: Delicious options for vegetarians!!!Parking: Plenty of parking availableDietary restrictions: Vegetarian options available!
Nice place. I enjoyed the butter chicken and the plain and garlic Naan were fresh and delicious. The chicken briyani was bland. I was not a fan of the chicken kabobs they were fried and greasy. The lamb curry was very good a little too spicy but by far the best item ordered. The Dahl lacked flavor and the Chana masala had to much chili powder it actually tasted grainy. I would have liked to taste the samosas but didn't see them on the menu until after we had ordered.
Excellent authentic southern Indian cuisine. Naan is crispy outside, perfect! Spinach pakora nice. Chat appetizers were full of spicy flavor. Palak paneer great. Gutti Vankya eggplant curry is really hot ?but tasty. BE AWARE THAT THEY CLOSE AT 3PM AFTER LUNCH AND STOP SEATING FOR INDOOR DINING AT 2:15 PM AND THEY MEAN IT! WE WALKED IN AT 2:10, LEFT AT 3 PM and staff left at 3:01 locking the door behind them! An oasis of Indian flavors in the west Texas desert!Vegetarian options: Many options!Parking: Free parking
