Sharon's Barbeque - Abilene
Sharon's Barbeque
Description
Sharon's Barbecue, a once-beloved dining destination, has received a mix of feedback recently. While some patrons rave about the flavorful brisket, chicken, and sides like macaroni and cheese, others have been disappointed by overly salty meats and overly sweet potato salad. Efficient service and prompt takeout have been praised, and many patrons appreciate the restaurant’s welcoming atmosphere. Despite past accolades, a few visits have left diners questioning their loyalty, with some indicating they may explore other options. Overall, Sharon's remains a popular choice for barbecue enthusiasts, though consistency may need to improve.

The value of the meal and the quality of the meat made this a great choice. You can't go wrong. The jalapeno poppers and sides were perfect. We ordered to go and our meal was ready on time and perfectly accurate. I would recommend Sharon's to anyone looking for a great bbq dinner.
We arrived an hour before closing and a lot of the meat was gone due to a higher than average day. We wanted brisket and thankfully they had enough for two plates. The meat and sides were delicious and the staff was warm and friendly!
Even though the restaurant was full, we managed to get our food promptly and find seating for a group of 6. The dishes were all very tasty and the service from the staff was efficient and welcoming.
We have been loyal customers of this restaurant for many years, but our experience last night was quite disappointing. The chicken thighs were overcooked and tough on the outside, while the vegetables were lukewarm and had been left out long enough that the macaroni and cheese had solidified. The potato salad had lost its creaminess and contained large chunks of potato, and the red beans were not soft at all. The corn was dried out, clearly having been on the warmer for too long. Additionally, the jalapeño cornbread was overcooked and hard on both the top and bottom. We understand that prices have risen due to Covid and increasing ingredient costs, but it’s frustrating to pay more for food that doesn’t meet the usual standard. This was not what we typically expect from this restaurant. Notably, we only saw new faces among the staff last night, which may have affected our experience, as the regular team is usually excellent and the food is always outstanding!
The entire staff appeared to be in training and quite disorganized. Even though we were the only customers at the time, it took nearly 15 minutes for them to serve us the meats we ordered after we lined up in a cafeteria-style fashion. All the side dishes were cold, despite some being meant to be hot. The meat tasted as if it had been left out and then reheated. I wouldn’t recommend this place; there are better options available, but unfortunately, they were closed.
