This restaurant is a hidden gem and not something I would have expected to find in Abilene. The retro decor adds a nice touch to the cozy atmosphere. The owners and waitresses are friendly and welcoming. The appetizers, particularly the chicken skewers, are tasty. The dishes are generously portioned and delicious. We tried the fried rice and DUI noodles, and the noodles were exceptional - a rare find in the San Antonio area. Just be aware that parking may be a challenge as the restaurant is located in a strip mall.

When it comes to Thai food, I love it all. But Krua Thai in Abilene is one of those places that truly stands out above the rest. The owner is the cook and she loves to serve great food. She even makes annual trips back to her home village in Thailand to bring back herbs and spices grown by her family. She uses these spices in her restaurant cooking and they do make a difference. This is one of the things that set this Thai place apart. The one thing you should know is that Tita (the owner) does not dull down her cooking to accommodate the sensitive Texas palate. She ranks her spicy level an a scale of 1 to 4, with four being the SURFACE OF THE SUN! As a lover of hot peppers, I can say I have never eaten at another Thai restaurant that can even come close to the heat level in Krua Thai 's level four. I usually get a level three and it is right at the border of what I would say is the point at which pepper heat turns form delicious spice to delicious pain. That is the perfect level for me. I know some people that love the level four, but most normal people stop at level two. One of the key questions to ask the cook is, "What village di the peppers she is using that day come from, her mothers village or hers. The peppers from he mother 's village are much hotter than the peppers grown in her own village. My favorites here are her curry chicken fried rice and her beef noodle soup. Level 3, of course!

I have been gone from Abilene for awhile and living in Washington where there is amazing Thai food. I couldn’t remember if krua Thai was good. I recently had the panang curry. I am so happy to say it was very good! I will be back!

The food at this restaurant is always great and the staff is excellent. It is one of the best restaurants in Abilene. They offer a range of spice levels, from mild to very hot. The owner adds a special touch of coconut flavoring to the dishes, which helps balance out the heat. If you are in a hurry, I recommend arriving early, around 11:30, as seating can be hard to come by due to high demand. Make sure your entire party is present before trying to get a table, as they will not seat you until everyone is there. However, customers are considerate and will make room for others to sit. If you are impatient, this may not be the place for you, but I highly recommend dining here and allowing yourself enough time to enjoy the experience. The food is excellent!

Flavor, spice, and love. These are the ingredients that go into every dish at Krua Thai, just how much spice is up to you! They don't add a dish to their menu unless they're going to do it justice. This is the kind of restaurant that I not only enjoy, but have a deep respect for.
