We came for dinner here on Sunday evening 7/05/20 6pm. This was our back up plan b/c our first stop was too crowded and had an hour wait time. We were happy that it played out this way. We had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile but hadn't been in Lake George/Bolton Landing in a few years. Big spacious restaurant w/indoor outdoor dining areas, a separate Bier Garten, the 34 room Bolton Motel. Large wood ba... View all feedback.
What Marilyn B doesn't like about Pumpernickel's:
Only ok. Hostess was a tad surly and service marginal. Food was meh. The sauerbraten was not great. Plain dry roast beef drowned in the sauce…and not at all marinated in it. Roast pork was dry and potato pancakes were half mashed potatoes and mushy. No sour cream offered with potato pancakes. The pumpernickel bread, however, was good. View all feedback.
Excellent German food. Not many places around for German. Friendly staff.

Worth the long drive. Food is very authentic german with excellent taste with spices and every plate is a full meal. I always have some to bring home
I am so disappointed we sat at a table for 35 minutes with no service. Only 5 other tables in the dining area. 3 of the 4 waitresses made eye contact with my husband and myself. That is so unfortunate because the menu looked so delicious.
Awesome food and beer selection! Everything we ordered was delicious! Our server was so friendly and kind.
