We booked for lunch at this tiny, 16 seat cafe in old town. The place used to be a barber shop, hence the name and some cute leftover decorations. Mauro was our waiter, friendly, efficient, and informative. He told us what each of our six, yes, six courses, consisted of, in both English and Spanish. We were blown away by the overall quality, and supreme value, of what we ate. My favorite dish was the heirloom tomatoes with a seaweed béchamel atop it. When dessert arrived, it was not one, but TWO pieces of very good homemade cakes each. Mauro told us his mother made them all, and then we met her and got a hug at the end of the meal. All this for 20 Euros each plus wine so inexpensive coca cola would cost more!
Surprising presentation of food with local products. Authentic retro. Attractively priced along good guality. Do not go here if for exclusiveness but for the joy of life.
We enjoyed our lunch at Barberia so much the first time that we came back again the next day for another delicious lunch. This place is excellent for exciting and unique dishes that make the most of the local produce. The menu changes every day and both times we enjoyed every single dish we ordered. The staff are super friendly and really welcoming. Make sure to save some room for the Tarte da Mama which is excellent and actually made by their mother. A really unique place that you really must discover!
Tasty, varied and inventive series of small plates. At a ludicrous 20e per head, this is a value/content combination that would be extraordinarily difficult to beat. Good house red and friendly service at this small. quirky place rounded off a great visit.
Based on the reviews we expected something quite special but were underwhelmed. We arrived at 7pm and sat at the bar and asked for a food menu only to be told that they don’t serve food until 8pm , not a problem but make it clear on the opening hours so we had a nice bottle of Alborino wine , at 8pm we asked for the tasting menu that we had read so much about only to be told that it must be preordered ! Please make it clear !? We then ordered coquille saint jacques , polpo which was swimming in a slightly unpleasant sauce and salt cod with mussel pesto which was excellent. The mum prepares the deserts and we enjoyed a nice cheesecake with quince and another bottle of wine this time a Ribero . We came on a Friday and it wasn’t particularly busy at 10.30 when we left and the lively atmosphere we read about was nonexistent. The prices are reasonable and food ok but nothing special.
