I always wanted to have a meal in the town of Shimotemeda, but I gave up because there was no parking lot. However, I found out that there is a free public parking in the town center, so I decided to go to that ramen restaurant for the first time, but unfortunately they were closed for the day. I thought the sukiyaki restaurant would have large portions, so I chose this restaurant with a high-impact name. Why is it called Eight...? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the menu was quite limited, and the only Shimotemeda-style dish was the Shimotemeda Katsudon. The Shimotemeda Katsudon that was served had incredibly tender pork cutlet with a delicious sauce, and it had an elegant flavor profile. The portion size was also quite substantial, almost comparable to a bowl of ramen. The owners of the restaurant were very warm and welcoming, which added to the overall pleasant experience.
Ideal individual restaurant in a local tourist spot. I visited with my family during Golden Week. The cutlets were not crispy, but rather had a soft and moist coating, which was delicious. Although it is named after Shimonita, it is not a mainstream tourist spot but rather a nice restaurant filled with a local atmosphere and a sense of tradition that locals also frequent. It's a place that made me realize that simply having delicious food without any special features can be a rare find in the countryside. While the service and taste may not be as good as in the city, the fact that they do not have to pay rent and rely on tourists and event groups means that it took quite a while for the food to come out. However, the interactions with the "I'm sorry for the delay" from the owner and responses like "No problem, it was busy" are unique to individual restaurants. Thank you for the meal.
