It was a course meal so I'm not sure of the name or price, but the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere that felt like a renovated traditional Japanese cuisine place. It seemed like it used to be a ryokan but was now turned into a bistro. In a town known for its seafood, mountain delicacies, and hot springs, there are mostly Japanese izakayas, small Western-style eateries, and cafes, so a bistro is quite rare and probably appreciated by the locals. Two dishes stood out to me. The main dish was a tender beef stew, similar to a demi-glace stew that didn't even require a knife to cut. It was a classic dish that I think even children would enjoy. The other memorable dish was the homemade persimmon sorbet. It tasted just like a persimmon, with a rustic flavor reminiscent of dried persimmons. The pasta seemed a bit lacking, possibly because it was part of the course menu. I wished it had more flavor. The welcome board was a nice touch, and I appreciate the effort they must have put in to accommodate a large group. Thank you for the meal. The image attached is just of the appetizer.
