The chef was really nice and p... read more Today, my wife and I visited Sushi Takeru. The sweet shrimp was incredibly delicious, and overall, the portions were quite large. The chef was really nice and personally saw us off to the elevator when we left. Although we haven't been able to drink alcohol these past couple of days as we adjust to the time difference, it was still a very enjoyable meal! Now the reason why I dropped 3 stars: this pl... read more I want to start by saying, the food was great, I’ve had Omakase at other places in Japan and this one is up there. Now the reason why I dropped 3 stars: this place allows minors to sit at the table, and you might think what’s wrong with that? Well, the day I came here 3 (three) minors, ranging from 3 to 10 years old ruined the whole night, and neither the parents nor Takeru-San did anything to stop the chaos that occurred that night. These three kids and their parents totally disrespected not only us, but the food prepared by Takeru and the staff. These children were stabbing the food, chewing and then spitting back out the food onto the plate, not eating anything at times, even the female staff had to come and take one of the kids to the restroom because he was pointing to his mouth that he couldn’t swallow the food so he had to spit it out. Also slurping noises with the straw on their drink, making all types of noises and playing on their phones. The parents of these kids did absolutely nothing to stop them, not a single word to them, all they did was to keep drinking more sake and laugh. I could tell Takeru-San and his staff was embarrassed of the situation but there was not an attempt to stop this chaos, all they did was to nervously laugh and look. While I can say the food was good, my partner and I did not enjoy the food as we wanted to, the distractions were too much, too loud and too disrespectful. So if Takeru-San wants to have a good environment between the patrons I think restricting reservations to only adults is what they should do, and not allow 5 year olds that cannot appreciate the food nor respect other people. For the amount of money I paid to eat here the least I can expect is a peaceful night, and that I did not have here. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 1

I had a reservation to Sushi Takeru and called the... read more I wanted to share my experience, in case it’s helpful to others, especially those that don’t speak Japanese. I had a reservation to Sushi Takeru and called the night before to inform them that I wasn’t feeling well and was going to have to cancel. The person who answered the phone said “we don’t speak English”. This seems unusual for a high-end restaurant in Tokyo, and especially unfortunate, since I can’t find any other way to communicate with them via text or email. I canceled my reservation through Omakase and was charged the full amount, as spelled out in their cancelation policy. Better service would have allowed some leeway for unexpected events, especially since I freed up a reservation slot by canceling. I could have kept my reservation, at no additional cost to me, and could have just failed to show. Overall, I’m disappointed. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Service: 1
