Nestled in Wolverhampton, Jivans offers a unique dining experience marked by affordable prices and generous portions. While the decor is simple and could use some modernization, the restaurant compensates with a welcoming atmosphere and attentive service. Diners rave about the flavorful curries, particularly the chicken tikka and balti dishes, but some have noted inconsistencies in spice levels and dish quality in takeout orders. Despite occasional service delays, Jivans remains a top choice for those seeking delicious Indian cuisine without breaking the bank, making it a perfect spot for pre-theater meals or casual dining.

We've just enjoyed the most amazing Indian takeaway delivered directly to our hire boat on the Birmingham canal at Wolverhampton. We cannot thank you enough for finding our boat and delivering a truly scrumptious dinner it was piping hot and perfectly spiced. Thank you so much for making our Sunday evening meal special. xxx View all feedback.
What CurryholicDudley dislikes about Jivan's:
I like different, and whilst I enjoy eating here I have noted that ironically there is a marked similarity in many of the dishes. Jivan 's is the Marmite of Indian restaurants but worth a visit although perhaps not for a special occasion . View all feedback.
Jivans in Wolverhampton is my go-to spot for curry for a number of reasons. The prices are very reasonable - my friend and I recently dined on rice and curry, shared a naan, and each had a pint of Indian lager for under £10 each! The curry is delicious and served in generous portions in a balti dish. Their chicken tikka sizzler starter is also fantastic at £8.00 (serving 3/4 people). Takeaway options are available as well. Jivans has a high hygiene score of 4 stars on the Wolverhampton council website, beating out more expensive restaurants. While the atmosphere is casual with simple tables, it's the perfect spot for a quick curry after a night of drinks or before a theatre show. Great food, generous portions, and fantastic prices make Jivans my top choice for curry in Wolverhampton.
An excellent little curry house that gives phenomenal value for money. Generous main course portions and sharing platters are the cheapest and amongst the best in town. The fact you can take your own alcohol makes Jivans a very affordable option for the more cash conscious. Small tables are squeezed into a small area which may sound a little too cosy for some people but actually makes the place even more charming. Highly recommended.
When you get a family business right, it goes on an on and at Jivans this is the rule and not the exception. Having being going here for the past four or so years, on and off, I feel compelled to write about it after a recent visit. Tucked away down broad street a place known for its seedy pornography shops and open all hours casino this small balti house has been here for many many years and its not a surprise as to why. The service is bar none- staff are warm and welcoming, and within five minutes of sitting down starters have arrived. The main course is traditional no nonsense indian food tasty, filling and extremely affordable with no compromise on quality. I have eaten at many curry houses Bilash, purbani, indigo, all of which charge more and yet jivans still ranks up there above the rest. A balti will set you back about a fiver, and with popadoms a nan and rice around 7.50 in total. Like most indian restaurants cobra beer is available on tap but you can bring in your own alcohol as well. We always go back here for birthdays and parties because they give us a large table in the room upstairs and the family who run it are always friendly and hospitable almost as if you were guests eating at their house! All in all, Jivans is a friendly, family-run curry house with lovely service, quality food and very reasonable prices. We will be back in the future
Waiter very rude, especially to Asian customers. Very friendly to non Asian customers. They really need to brush up on their customer service.
On a wet Tuesday early evening this rather unprepossessing but locally recommended restaurant was empty when I arrived. The staff were great and welcoming which in an empty restaurant is a hard one to pull off. Chicken sag balti was good. Heat is as you choose and the medium I requested was on the mild side. Peshwari naan was spoiled by a sweet sauce better suited to an ice cream dessert. The value however is terrific. With a couple of poppadoms and a pint of Cobra my bill was less than £14. I would go back.
